Nice hire if true. Gotta be replacing cain or ochinko. We once again have a legit hitting coach

You left off one word, and completely changed the meaning of what I actually said. Are you really this dumb, or do you just pretend to be on a message board?

well a hitting coach of any kind is better than what we have now. Hell Javi was better than we have now.

It makes the most sense, given his former duties at Tulane being comparable to Cain.

Other possible scenarios...

- Cain moving into volunteer role, and Smith taking over hitting coach duties.

- Cain staying and Smith being in the volunteer role. No more Ochinko.

- Dunn leaving (sadly there is a HC job open an hour down the road) and Smith just being the first new coach in place.

- Same situation as above, and Mainieri thinking Cain can move into role of pitching coach.

I'm fine with situation 1, 2 and 3. Not so much 4.

At least give Pawl credit for making the move.

You can only have 2 paid assistants right now so it has to be Cain.

Will this hire help LSU baseball win its first national title in 10 seasons?

To me this is best case scenario. It would be a bit of a slap in the face to Nolan (not that I’m overly concerned about that) asking him to step back into the volunteer role. But he has seemed to do a good job as RC.

Hopefully Cain is happy just working at his alma mater making a good salary and wants to do whatever is needed to help the program. Plus his wife also works at LSU; so maybe they are content being in BR and he doesn’t have aspirations to move up anywhere else.

If this happens, it would be great. Full time pitching and hitting coaches that can assist with recruiting, and an RC that can focus on that full time. Unless I’m just completely wrong here and volunteer coach can’t recruit off campus; then my whole scenario goes out the window. Lol

He wouldn't be able to recruit off campus as a volunteer.

So CPM was just able to get a legit hitting coach to come to LSU as a volunteer coach while being able to keep your very good recruiting coordinator on staff. I know a lot of people love to hate Maineiri but on paper that seems like a really good get.

If true, surprising that he is coming in a volunteer role. It's really best case scenario. I'm sure he will be paid very nicely, so that's probably all he cares about.

It's probably going to be a pay nice pay increase, at a high profile program, and he no longer has to go out recruiting.

This also allows Cain to focus 100% on what he is best at. I'm higher on Cain than most, and I'm really glad he will get to keep doing his thing.

All around, this is amazing news.

PM basically said not to expect any coaching changes at the end of season press conference.

I wonder if PM saw the hitters struggling in Summer ball and decided to make a change because of that.
