Tulane Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Coaches third base and hitting for them as well.

Seems similar to Cain, except for the coaching hitting part. Maybe Cain is getting a "step up" at a smaller school with a more prominent position???

I believe he's highly thought of as a hitting coach.

I purposely didn't mention this.

There is quite the big difference between Smith and other players Mainieri has hired though. Smith's resume includes Virginia and Notre Dame (not when Mainieri was at ND though)

I don’t believe we could make this move unless someone was leaving or moving to a non-coaching position. Right?

He did a great job at Tulane. They hit the hell out of the ball and not with a bunch of highly touted recruits.

I sure hope so. Some quick digging makes it look like a good hire.

Just saw OP added an advocate article to his post. So seems that we got the confirmation.

Just read the article, and nobody from LSU is confirming or denying it. Article states he needs to clear back ground check before making it official.

That was a bit much but honestly why so many former players on his staff?

Almost every single coach is going to reach out to someone they are familiar with first. People have a case when complaining about Mainieri hiring unproven former players to jump on staff at LSU. This guy played for Mainieri, sure, but he has some skins on the wall at other schools, under other coaches, and has a proven track record of success.

Find something else to cry about, because this will just make you look even dumber than you normally do on here.
