Ok this is something he should’ve kept to himself.

Calling a spade a spade with Woodward is one thing.

This will release the citizens of Louisiana being on the hook when a couple millionaires decide to sling some cash around to pay the coach off midsession for having a winning record.

Sounds like the AG needs to review, since this is a state employee,

Don’t be fricking dumb. The taxpayers have never once payed for a buyout, or more than 10% of the coach’s salary.

This is Jeff Landry grandstanding.

best case is Kelvin Sheppard

At this point, if we could somehow pull Kelvin Sheppard, I’d consider it an absolute win. He may be the best we can possibly do after all of this

They pay 0% of the coach’s salary because the entire athletic department is self-funded. Don’t get hung up on TAF money vs. LSU money; it’s irrelevant.

The LSU football coach is not tax payer funded and has nothing to do with state government.

Why put in contract then?

If the big lifters are all in on firing a winning coach. Go for it. But don’t expose Louisiana tax payers. Get the contract right,.

I know that’s recently been the case but I feel like a portion of the salary was state funded at one time.

This right here is Jeff Landry trying to tell people what they can and can’t do with their own money. It’s a huge problem.

He also said he doesn't care how much is paid as long as the language keeps it off the backs of the state's taxpayers (Spoiler alert, the current one isnt on them either)

The boosters will get whoever they want, Landry is looking to make it into something its not

It most likely has to be in the contract. If it were going to fall on the taxpayers the coach wouldn’t be bought out.

It’s really not complicated.

Louisiana AG to review next LSU HC contract

Louisiana AG to pay an buddy's outside law firm $1 less than the bidding threshold to review the next LSU HC contract.

Fify.

Eta: Legal services don't get bid out; but this administration won't miss a chance to funnel state money to their friends. (As is tradition in Louisiana politics.)

LSU just needs to save some time and resources by starting the search with the Tier-3 coaching list. Tier-1 and Tier-2 coaches will want absolutely nothing to do with this embarrassing political bullshite.

You people have fricking lost it.

Your “issue” has nothing to do with the actual contract. The athletic department pays the coach’s salary. THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT IS SELF-FUNDED.

If you want the state to be free from all liabilities in the event that LSU’s athletic department completely collapses, your options are A) separate the athletic department from the university entirely or B) shut it down. But both would be pretty fricking stupid considering the athletic department contributes money back to the academic side of the university.

Great. Now I’m gonna be on the hook for an AG staffer to make some overtime or the day rate for a consultant working with them to review this thing.
