I don't think that's what it is. You're kinda a negative aura around it. We also don't really know what happened there despite what's reported. Really the only one who truly knows is Schmidt and his family/agent. Maybe he's not really at fault? You can also argue players who want money are motivated to get better for the next level to prove something so it can honestly go both ways. You can really view it as a positive or negative. There's plenty of players I'm sure who treated it like a business decision with intentions to leave after junior year and weren't locker room cancers. It's speculative at best so I guess people would downvote a negative opinion to it. You might not be wrong either.

Nah, you’re getting downvoted for being an arse.
Fans need to have some realistic expectations, but this is a win/win all around

Hopefully the next Kade Anderson. Just remember that Anderson didn’t do much his freshman season.

I’ve seen it too many times where a top pitcher wants to go pro and get the money immediately, only to get lower than his expectation. It creates bitterness and a tough time for an 18 year old mentally. And then to come to a big program and expect to perform at the highest level with the highest expectations… it’s almost unfair.
There have been first round talent to go to school, yes. But when the players is dead set on the pros then hesitates with his commitment, it rarely works out perfectly. This is why I’m hesitant to celebrate.

Can a young man not humble himself?
I get your doubts (I harbor similar feelings maybe a tad bit more toned down).

Tell us about your time around this young man. Was it travel ball, HS, or are you a close friend of the family?

Yes. He definitely can. And I hope he does.

The midweek starter will be whichever reliever they choose to pitch the first inning.

So he just needs to be the best pitcher in the country by year 2?

I’m pumped. Cam Johnson taught me to temper the expectations but this is another huge win for the program regardless.
