I’ve been trying to find news on this but haven’t found anything. Where did you see it?

Updated to add Logan Schmidt. Roster increased by one, up to 40 players.

LSU baseball’s 2027 recruiting class received another significant boost Saturday as prized left-handed pitching prospect Logan Schmidt publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers on social media.
Schmidt, one of the nation’s top high school pitchers in the 2026 class, posted “Let’s Geaux” in a combo post with the official LSU Baseball account on Instagram, capping a whirlwind few weeks following the Major League Baseball Draft. He posted the same words and graphic on X.

The California standout was selected by the Cleveland Guardians with the 59th overall pick in the second round of the 2026 MLB Draft. However, the two sides were unable to reach an agreement before the signing deadline, allowing Schmidt to honor his collegiate commitment instead. Reports indicated there was a sizable gap between Schmidt’s bonus expectations and Cleveland’s available signing pool, leading the left-hander to pass on beginning his professional career.
Schmidt’s reaffirmation removes any lingering doubt about his plans and further strengthens what is expected to be one of the nation’s premier recruiting classes under LSU head coach Jay Johnson. Schmidt was weighing the option to go the junior college route.
Regarded as one of the elite prep arms in the country, Schmidt possesses a lively fastball, advanced secondary pitches and the type of high-end upside that made him one of the highest-drafted high school pitchers in this year’s class.
His decision to stick with LSU continues the Tigers’ recent success in retaining top draft-eligible signees, giving Johnson another potential frontline arm for the 2027 season.
With Schmidt now publicly doubling down on his commitment, LSU appears set to welcome one of the most talented left-handed pitching prospects in the country to Baton Rouge next summer.

Updated to remove Major Osbolt. Now at 39 players. LINK
LSU signee Major Osbolt announced on social media that he has committed to North Carolina instead of joining Jay Johnson's program in Baton Rouge.
Osbolt, a 6'4 right-handed pitcher out of JUCO power Walters State (Morristown, TN), had been committed to LSU since November.

Not tech savvy enough to provide the link using iPhone but this was announced. Didn’t have this guy listed on the potential roster for next year. Not sure who I need to remove but the article states that LSU was set to have 40 players heading into next year. Since we have 41 listed, does anyone know at this point who needs to be removed?
LINK
LSU Baseball signee Anthony Murphy announced on social media that he is decommitting from the program and reopening his recruitment.
Murphy, an outfielder from Corona, Calif., was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 16th round last week.
Murphy's decommitment was somewhat expected and puts the Tigers' roster in a better spot.
Following the MLB Draft last week, LSU was set to have 40 players heading into next year, with a limit of 34. The Tigers will have some “designated student-athletes” and end up at 39 players in the fall, according to Jay Johnson.

Projected 2027 Baseball Roster
Posted by Tiger Parent Fan on 7/12/26 at 10:44 pm
Not everyone listed will be on the roster in the spring. I compiled this based on announcements of those drafted but say they’re coming. I understand it will change, but this is what it looks like for now. Being limited to 34 players on a roster will make for some interesting decisions with these 39 (removed Madden Belding 7/20, removed Major Osbolt 7/26, added Logan Schmidt 8/1, removed Luke Tucker 8/6) guys listed below. Also, pending other draftees not coming to agreements. Who am I missing or included that shouldn’t be?

I’m sure they were because the stadium gouged us last year for standing room tickets. We bought seat tickets for another game for less than the standing room tickets, just because it was LSU.

Jim, I agree. Don’t miss out on going to Barrett’s Barleycorn. It’s not walking distance to Schwab Stadium, but it’s something that an LSU fan should not miss.
