There’s a process to these lawyers madness. First guy tries to get the witness off balance with tough questions and attacks, second guy is the good cop who’s just trying to understand, third guy asks leading questions to get a fatigued witness to admit to something accidentally

This seems pretty accurate. This second attorney is very boring going through sec policy and not trying to trip Sankey up on anything. At least not yet

I’m no lawyer but I’d assume they’d try to bring this up AFTER they got Sankey on record about his position regarding pro vs amateur/ who can come back, etc.

They got him to admit that you can’t come back after “moving on”.

At some point I’d imagine they bring up all of the players that have done just that and are currently rostered in the conference. They will make him explain why they’re allowed and these players aren’t.

“They signed a contract” won’t be enough.

This case and the fact that the SEC is suing LSU and Kiffin could very well be the impetus toward a Super Conference. LSU could lead the way. There's going to be a lot of bad blood for a long time since the SEC is trying to harm a founding member.

Sankey has a personal vendetta against Kiffin. I don't see how they can coexist after this.

There is an exception for necessary expenses so room and board, meals, and injury insurance are not considered compensation is what I read I believe from Cole Hutson's suit

Compensation doesn't have to be monetary. The NCAA has been pretty clear about that.

Did anyone see a goalpost around here?

Last question Clayton asked was "do you hate LSU" Williams objected and there was no answer What's the legal strategy behind asking this?

It happens all the time on the Hill. Liberal is asked if a man can conceive a child. Liberal pleads the 5th. So the congressman asks if the carpet is blue. They plead the 5th again

He asked Sankey the most obviously easy question to answer for a conference commissioner. And Sankey abstained. That says everything about this situation.

Was TC injunction only against NCAA and could the SEC deem him ineligible to play?

Even as an LSU fan, the SEC team's incompetence is annoying the shite out of me. Why on Earth would he object there? Now he just creates a clear situation where Sankey could not simple say he doesn't "hate" one of his member schools. That question would only hurt the SEC if he said something other than, "no." Maybe Williams believes Sankey is a moron and would have trouble saying no.

Exactly what I thought too. Terrible cross defense.

Sankey Said he isn't aware of any particular players situation and it's not an issue about being a pro athlete but he thinks that if a player moves on then they have made their choice and should not be able to come back.

Did he torpedo their entire position? If it's not about them being a pro athlete then what is it about?

Leaving and coming back could cover a number of things such as someone that is kicked off one team and enrolls at another school, a kid that takes off time for personal reasons and later comes back, etc.

younger abstention doctrine

Wouldn't that be why the SEC is claiming that LSU and Lane violated their Constitutional 1st A. rights?

Just asking....

Sankey will be fired and LSU will own the SEC. This was a very dumb move by Sankey.
