What's the legal strategy behind asking this?

Again, the SEC is escalating a fight where they have much, much more to lose with fairly tight odds. This is a stupid play by the conference. They are willing to risk blatant RICO violations to fight a one-year problem involving 7 players.

They need better advisors

Whether right or wrong, the league and its attorneys believe that this precedent will open the door for any "professional" still within that 5-for-5 window to return to college athletics by citing this case.

So what about the other players on SEC rosters that did exactly that?

Yeah no one cares about that for some reason.

This is all orchestrated to keep the focus off of how badly the NCAA fricked this up. They've even got chancellors of universities chiming in sounded like ignorant fricks for not including all NCAA schools, much less not including the other SEC schools that are doing he exact same thing.

What about the players that moved on and then came back already?

Kiffin's public statements about recruiting those players against him.

After the court ruled the players get a 5th year, yes he recruited.

The suit is a farce and should be dismissed.

If Tony Clayton did not individually use Cole Hutson's name in a question, he's doing it wrong.

Or Missouri or Mississippi State or the one at Kentucky. It's all over the conference. Keith Carter even admitted that they were looking to recruit these guys.

In its filing, the SEC says LSU and coach Lane Kiffin "began an orchestrated campaign to recruit professional athletes to join the LSU football roster" and uses Kiffin's public statements about recruiting those players against him.

Because a court ruled and provided an injunction for those players to be eligible. How can you sue him for going by what a court order says?

Forgive me if this has been posted, but it appears the SEC has brought this to federal court now

The Federal Lawsuit: Rather than waiting for the state judge's ruling, the SEC has filed a federal suit in an attempt to block LSU from putting former NFL contracted players on its roster. The conference is escalating the battle to a higher court to protect its right to enforce its own bylaws.

They'll say they "just attended unpaid minicamp(s)" and never "signed a contract"... even though they undoubtedly to sign a shite load of paperwork to step foot on a practice field or facility

I can answer this one for Tony. Williams is a Tulane grad who hates white people.

Correct me if I won’t, but weren’t Kiffins public comments made AFTER the initial TRO was signed. The TRO gave them eligibility, and were therefore fair game to recruit?
