Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry weighed in on LSU's ongoing eligibility battle Thursday, firing back at the attorneys general from Georgia and South Carolina over their characterization of the players seeking to return to college football.

Landry pushed back on referring to the players as "NFL players," calling that description "at best disingenuous, and at worst intentionally deceptive."

His response comes as officials from multiple states have entered the debate over LSU's efforts to add players who previously exhausted their college eligibility before briefly pursuing opportunities in the NFL.
