Les Miles deserves to be honored

He wouldve been the winingest coach in cfb in that era if not for Saban. He kept LSU great despite following an all-time GOAT which is not easy to do. And he just had a fun brand of football to watch that made LSU a national rooting interest. Saban built the program, but Miles built the brand.
Watching old games just reminds me of how much better cfb was back then and how the top SEC teams from that era would hand today's teams a total arse whoopin.
I'm not saying he needs a statue, but LSU needs to at least get him back on the field and give him a Tiger Stadium ovation

he did a pretty good job in hindsight, but I wouldn’t say he had a fun brand of football to watch. It was pretty painful sometimes. It wasn’t a bad formula to exhaust the other team and come through in the 4th quarter but we tended to let lesser teams keep it close and then have to scramble to win at the end, even early in his career when we were a 5000 pound gorilla with a chainsaw dick.

I've heard his health is declining, Rumors of dementia or Lupus. I wouldn't say he was the best coach in the world, but there were certainly fantastic games, fake punts and FG's, and certainly great quotes that LSU fans loved. In 2017 at halftime of the Auburn game, they honored Les and the 2007 national championship team. Got a standing ovation then. And LSU came back and won in the 2nd half with the DJ Chark punt return.

He’s an adulterous, philandering, stubborn shite, who sustained success the same way DeBoer is doing at Alabama but with less love from his players and more love from his grass management team.
If he hadn’t been here and been decent at his job and successful due to the groundwork Saban laid, Saban would have returned after Miami to LSU and led the program to higher highs than ever.
He’s a shite bag.

Les gave us some magic that day one last time…..even if he wasn’t coaching the team anymore.

He did a good job of recruiting. Nobody has done less with more.
2012 ticks me off to this day. OBJ and Mettenberger, and we pissed it away.

Smashmouth defense and run the ball up the gut with elite ST creativity. Nowadays all cfb teams are the same

I cannot understand why there is not more appreciation for Les. He made some mistakes and was terrible at clock management but at the same time was an elite coach. It was time for him to go when he did but I still loved the guy.

wtf? we always had good defenses under saban and miles and O pre-2020.

that is not creative or fun. miles style sucked arse. ask gary crowton. he wanted to keep it close and pull it out at the end in 4th quarter. dumb. blow teams out and finish them. it backfired on his arse so many times. fun is what we had with brady and denbrock. and hopefully with kiffin.
now would we take his efficiency and results running the ball against teams not named bama? sure. that does not mean it is fun or creative.

You are absolutely 100% correct.
Les really took the lit match and grew us into a fire.
I hate that he’s not a part of the program anymore, for whatever the reason. He did a lot for us as we did for him. I wish things could have ended better.

I think he did too until JL and AH in 08’ After that season, things got very vanilla.

People have no idea how hard it is to win. They really have no idea how hard it is to win at the top level of college football. Miles did it for a decade.
99% of the men that ever coached college football would give their left nut to have the level of accomplishment of Les Miles.
His detractors don't like him because he wasn't perfect. No coach is perfect.

nah. he sucked at X and O's. sucked at game and player management. sucked at adjustments. way too reactive and slow. he was a great recruiter and did well hiring assistants pre 2011.
when he quit on us in the 2011 natty he should have been fired on the spot.
who the frick handoffs down like we were on 3rd down then punts? who?
dumbass shoulda been in HUNH all 4 downs. idiotic and embarassing coaching.

crowton was still wide open in 08. scored 30 a game. even with 7 pick sixes. and letting lee throw over the middle.
in 2009 JJ was terrible at running crowtons offense. he could not handle it.
so miles cut him off at the knees in 2010. the offense changed from 09 to 2010. that is when a former LSU lineman told me watch the changes this year. i asked wtf are you talking about?
he stated clearly we are going to les ball now since JJ cannot run crowtons offense. we will be run heavy....simple between tackles. i'll be damned. he was 100% correct. we ran 68% of the time. toss dive, HB power and HB iso city. basically miles took over offense in 2010. crowton was a lame duck that year and left after the season.

A national championship was won on his watch.
That is the ultimate goal.
