Sprouts in BR makes people pay for bags. I don’t shop there.

How do you know that he didn’t bring the basket back?

Maybe he thought the choice was between having to bring the basket back to the super market or paying for bags to save a trip

His self checkout reasoning is solid.

They trust you to do their job checking yourself out with ~$100 worth of groceries, why wouldn't they trust you to return a $10 basket?

It’s still stealing if you took something without asking. Can I take your car and ride around then bring it back without asking?

Our local pet smart tried doing this a couple years ago. 10 cents a bag and they had a sign saying basically if their customer chooses to not be eco friendly they’ll have to pay for it. Well I walked out of there with no bags and have never gone back. frick their liberal agenda. If they want to be so eco friendly, spend a little more money and get eco friendly bags. But that would eat away at their profit so they’ll make the consumer eat it.

While it is funny to think about a man making $1 million a month not wanting to pay a dollar for a grocery bag, I had this exact thing happen to me in Oregon. I used the self-checkout and didn’t realize you were supposed to bring your own bags. The section where you could buy the bags was in another part of the grocery store, so you’re essentially stuck in the self-checkout with no way to carry your groceries out of the store. Lane has been living in the South too long.
