Lane & Nick on returning to your former place

Lane was asked about feelings on returning to Ole Miss. Nick interjected telling Lane to call him for advice since he had experience returning to hostile LSU.
Lane said he would call Ms Terry. In one of the games in TS Lane saw Ms Terry spreading something on the sideline and she said “there is voodoo in this place.”
Nick confirmed she spread Holy Water on the sideline…

Sounds like we need to get a Voo Doo intervention to counter Ms Terry’s shenanigans

Miss Terry spraying the sidelines during pregame in 2008

He owned LSU in Tiger Stadium unfortunately. The only times we beat him in Tiger Stadium were 2010 and 2022.

Les miles and Ed orgeron vs Saban were such coaching mismatches lol

He owned everyone in a lot of places. Greatest coach in the history of football IMO.

He didn’t have to out coach miles. All he had to do was wait on miles to blow it himself

Lane asked Nick if Ms Terry could help him out on this and Nick said she probably would because she likes Lane.
What I got out of this exchange is Lane & Nick are very good friends. I think he will have Lane’s back at ESPN as long as he doesnt do something outrageous…

Agree. It’s no secret that Lane thinks the world of Saban and Pete Carrol.
It also seems like Lane might have finally realized this is it and is treating this as his first real big boy job. He was way too young at usc and Tennessee. Ole Miss was the final stepping stone. Sorry reb fans it’s a stepping stone now and always has been. Nothing will change that.
Unless he changes his mind dropping the Social media was a big step. He might be really unlocking the next level for himself and LSU. Time will tell.

Or for the refs to bail them out.

College Game Day Oct 18, 2025
I have no doubt if Nick wanted to go back to coaching, he could win his eighth national championship. But we're having too much fun, and we wouldn't want to take that opportunity away from all of our baby coaches, like Kirby [Smart] and Lane [Kiffin].
Terry Saban
Brian Kelly fired Oct 26, 2025
I'd say they are friends. She knew what she was doing..... for us.

I'd correct this to "his LAST real big boy job"
He's spent awhile rebuilding his image and reputation, and right now he's at the top of his perceived value... it's all downhill from here.
1) he's early 50's, still within the "he can be here a good while and build a program" age. But the older he gets, the less that is true; so 5 yrs from now that will have passed. He'd be getting to the point of a "we can make a run with him" guy.
2) Red-hot expectations following his tenure at Ole Miss. If he doesn't match (or really, surpass) that bar here, he won't be as desired. If he leaves early, or doesn't win big, the mystique fades for the next big job.
This is the moment for him, and he chose to cash it in at LSU. That has me excited.

He is 51...Saban was 53 when he won his first title and 58 when he started a Dynasty...things are lining up nicely

Until January 9, 2012, Les actually got the best of Nick, going 3-2 before that game
Losing that game cost LSU and Les the war as you stated, Nick and Alabama owned Les and LSU mentally after that disaster, we could've won those games in 2012 and 2014 but played not to lose instead of to win in the clutch

All or nothing for Kiffin now. No other major power will give him a chance if this doesn’t work. Sure he can get another ole Miss caliber job but the USC’s Tennessee’s and LSU’s of the world won’t do it again.

Right, he's the correct age still. And keep in mind my second point-

If he leaves LSU early, the questions about him being a perennial job-hopper return. He was at Ole Miss a pretty long time, which eased that concern, to where he could be seen as a guy who would stick around. If you're scared he would jump again, his value drops.

Should have been one more in 2012 for sure, but I'll take the 2010 and 2022 wins to the grave.
