I’m pretty familiar woth how it works. Just pointing out there was no offer on paper to turn down. Kinda like the high school harry’s That say they could have played D1 but hurt their knee etc...

A simple concept of which you clearly have no understanding. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t post. THAT’S a simple concept.

It's impressive how entrenched in your ignorance you actually are. It's ok not to know how the baseball draft works but don't double down on stupid son

Don’t think you understand how the MLB draft works.

Hes getting free everything. I think his dad can afford and insurance policy on the arm (that Manieri will overwork before Omaha).
Then, he collects without having to work for it in the bigs

Yeah, that's not how it works nowadays. My former LSU roommate/teammate's son was drafted by the Nats today. When another former roommate texted me, I contacted my buddy and offered to get involved because Nats GM Mike Rizzo was a teammate in pro ball. We roomed together a few times on road trips. Come to find out that they already an agreement on the signing bonus and the Nats selected him based on that.

Yeah, the MLB draft has a lot of moving parts and obscure rules, customs, etc. I’m admittedly a little hazy on some of it. But I also don’t spout off as if I understand things which I don’t. The guy you responded to obviously is having trouble with some pretty fundamental concepts surrounding the draft and seems to want to celebrate it

The overwork part was kinda funny... I think going forward any incoming freshmen pitcher should not pitch over 5 innings or 80 pitches no matter how good of a game there having because of the fatigue factor. It's affected Walker, Hilliard, and Labas.

Yes that’s called a predraft deal which is pretty common in the first round. I’m familiar. That’s when people that aren’t really 1st rounders get selected there and take less than slot money. I also know that all teams that are interested in potential picks always try to find out what they would sign for it’s called signability. This happens months leading up to the draft. That’s usually the “offer” that’s turned down.

Serious question. Why not just take the summers off and not pitch in those leagues? Are there pitchers that just rest during summers?

So you really think they would have asked if he would take $1.5 mil if he was drafted and then not paid? Do you know what that would do to the rep of a team?

And as to your, was it an offer question? Yes, it was. It was a conditional offer. He turned it down so they did not execute the condition.
