Lance Zierlein ESPN 97.5 Houston

For those of you in the Houston area, you likely know who Lance is. He does draft grades for NFL.com and his dad is a longtime former NFL/College coach. He knows football and has friends all over who also know football.
He casually says on this morning's show that he has a friend either at LSU or that has been to LSU's practice and he says things are not looking good at LSU and this season will be rough.
Take it for what it's worth. Look, I'm always optimistic this time every year, but also realize that most coaches that are in year one are there for a reason.
Just passing along what I heard and wondered if any other Houston Tigers heard him say that today as well.
He casually says on this morning's show that he has a friend either at LSU or that has been to LSU's practice and he says things are not looking good at LSU and this season will be rough.

I mean aren’t they only 2-3 days into camp? I would imagine the first week is breaking into the offense and defense, there will be tons of mistakes made in those first few practices.
I’d be more concerned hearing this during game week.

This team is very young with a new coaching staff. No proven quarterback, running back, or oline. Imagine things don’t look great after the first three or four days of practice. No reason to panic.

That's funny because my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw LSU practice, and said they looked pretty good

they've had 2 practices. Question, what audience is a Houston based radio show playing to when it comes to college football? Is there a particular large fan base in Houston of a school an hour and a half away that would eat up "LSU is going to have a rough season"

Lance Zierlein is literally the worse sports person in the business. He is the voice of the Texans and is a complete imbecile. If he says there are problems then that is a positive!

Some of you will freak out over anything and bite on the first negative hook in the water.
All we heard the last two years was how good everything was looking in camp. That was because the head coach and a chunk of the staff didn’t have a systematic approach to finding and fixing problems. Things looked fine because no one was turning over rocks looking for issues to fix or stressing the fine details. We sure found those problems quickly in game one the last two seasons, though.
This is when a good staff is doing the hard work of finding and fixing issues. Teaching the right way to do things. Putting a plan in place. With a new staff and all the turnover we’ve had, how would you expect things to look right now? There’s no way it should look silky smooth today. That’s just not realistic in year one. As long as the staff is organized, developing players and fixing the problems they find, then the results will come. Based on Kelly’s rep and past success, I have no reason to think this isn’t happening.

Football fans in Texas haven’t seen a championship in football in 20 years. He doesn’t know what excellence looks like.
Perhaps his friend sees coaches actually coaching and challenging players….this is a good thing especially considering we have a young nucleus implementing new schemes.
We can’t wait until the Fl St Game to work out the kinks.
