A part of this may have come from a former athletic trainer. Davis-Price told reporters that Jack Marucci — the revered LSU trainer who now focuses on sports science and performance innovation — did some research and helped Peetz and company change some things.
“He went up to the coaches, just showing them a few of our formations and just telling them what runs would be best for certain people and creating better blocking schemes for the O-line,” Davis-Price said. “As you could tell, it worked.”
From the Athletic.
O really opening up that suggestion box. First reporters, now trainers. We are officially out of ideas.

Yeah it is..so why aren't the analysts doing that crap then?

Marucci isn't just the trainer anymore. He runs the performance analytics program. This is what they do.

Agree and this late into the season. But I’ll take it.

It sounds like he’s coaching

What part of performance analytics in his title was confusing to you?

wat
Analysts analyze data for trends, forecasts, etc. Data scientists collect data. Data Engineers can interpret the data.
Do I need to propose a meeting with the coaching staff to whiteboard this?

Umm. Data collectors collect data. Analysts analyze.

Maybe the part about designing blocking schemes.

Marucci’s next trick should be attempting to quantify his own impact on LSU athletics. Probably impossible.

Because OP (or the article, I don’t know because he didn’t link it) provided zero context regarding what information Marucci used to come up with his recommendations. That doesn’t mean that it falls outside of what Marucci does, though.
It would be like taking the 2019 WR story and saying “Marucci told Orgeron which receivers should be running which routes” without including the whole thing about the high tech glasses he used to track the receivers’ eye movements.

It sounds like traditional scouting
