Kentucky also had the best QB in the SEC back in 2007 when LSU played at Lexington.

Andre Woodson. For those old enough to remember. Now in 2026, LSU goes up to Lexington to face Kenny Minchey who is the best QB in the SEC so far this season.

Chambliss and Manning are arguably the better NFL prospects but not the best overall QB in the conference.

I wouldn't go that far, but you can see him getting better and more confident each game.

That 2007 defense was not great. Started off strong, but count the Florida game prior to Kentucky, they allowed just over 27 points a game for the remainder of the season. The allowed 43 and 50 points in their 2 losses.

yea but triple overtime.

They gave up 27 and 28 respectfully in regulation

2007 defense was really good all in all

I will always hate Andre Woodson because I was at the game and he seemed to audible on every play. A guy sitting behind me would say "we have our own Peyton Manning back there" every single time Woodson audibled. It was infuriating.

With that said, Minchey is definitely not the best quarterback in the SEC, what an absurd statement.

Arch manning is not better, leavitt is debatable but seems to be improving. But yeah Minchey isn’t close to the other 3

What I remember about 2007 Kentucky game was, at the end of the game, we needed to convert 4th and short to win in regulation, and Hester (great at wiggling for an extra two yards on 4th down; see 2007 Florida) had to come out of the game briefly because of injury or equipment. His replacement ran into the blocker, and failed to get the first down.

In a 1997 game. Tim Couch and Peyton Manning threw for a combined 1100 yards. It was epic.

Derrick Ramsey in 1976. With Art Still on the other side. Cats wrecked havoc in Tiger Stadium that night.

Minchey is 15th out of 16 in QBR! What are you talking about?!? Only quarterback who is worse is Arkansas.

That is certainly debatable. They finished the season 8-5 and 3-5 in the SEC, definitely not a team a club as talented as LSU should have lost to.

Hell if LSU beats them they are a 7-6 team.

Best Kentucky team I ever saw by far, not even close was the 1977 Kentucky team that beat us in tiger Stadium 33-13 and beat 7 teams that ended the year in the top 20, Including Penn St. on the road and Georgia 33-0 in Athens.

Their only loss was an inexplicable loss to Baylor. They finished 10-1.

The next year they were on probation so we found out why, but they whipped us as badly as any team I can remember in the70's at home. That was a solid LSU team with Charles Alexander that ended up 8-3.

By what metric?

5th in passer rating
Tied for 4th in TDs thrown
Tied for 8th in Yards per attempt
5th in completion percentage
6th in total yards

Gunner Stockton, Keyland Russell, and Austin Simmons all grade out better than him.

So long as Rickey Jean-Francois doesn’t slap his helmet we should be fine.

Truth, but the writing should have been on the wall for Bo Pelini after the Arkansas and Kentucky games that year.

Fortunately, the people at Nebraska skipped watching those games and hired him away.
