Whatever the case, I can't think of a better way to limit Nuss' "pitch count" then by MVB getting the next start or at least mixed in some the next couple games.

That’s not the point.

The point is that you might as well try, especially in a situation like Saturday when QB1 can’t even hit a WR wide open in the end zone.

Of course it's the point.

The coach HAS to play the guy he thinks gives him the best chance.

The "you might as well try" is over the top defeatism. Nuss hasn't been good. But, there's a scenario where he heals over time and can give us enough to have a chance to win 10 games. 10 games would get us into the playoffs.

Then why play him against SELU

I'm not defending that. I said at the time he shouldn't play.

But, the rational possibilities that match what we saw are:

* He was getting healthier and they thought he would continue to improve.
* The rumors at that time was that he was being limited in practice until about that time and they thought that was the reason the offense wasn't clicking. So, they though they needed the offense to spend some time being effective.
* They wanted to show Ole Miss that they could make plays downfield. In hindsight, I actually think this played a part in the decision and I think it backfired on them.
* they know Nuss is what he is (isn't going to improve) and he's got to find a way to be effective with his limitations.

I don't pretend to know. But, it's a huge leap to assume Van Buren gives you a better chance of winning.

So it was not healed for Ole Miss and he kept him in even though he could not throw the ball deep and could not implement a game plan to take advantage of a throwing quarterback that is not a threat to run. So it was a one dimensional offense that failed miserably. That could not even match the offensive production of Arkansas vs Ole Miss.

I think Hurley would have had better stats than Nuss for the OM game. 19 pts against a crp defense. That's just bad.

Kelly is clearly a liar and is on his way to tanking this entire season by his stubbornness. Which is it Brian? Is he injured or not? Absolute clown.

It’s a calculated risk. I don’t think this is that complicated, and it has nothing to do with beating Southeastern.

The logical question to ask going into the Southeastern week is: “what gives me a better performance from Garrett Nussmeier against Ole Miss - an extra week of practice/game reps or an extra week of rest?”

Answering that question requires input from the coaches, medical staff, and Nussmeier himself. Imagine the medical staff tells you there’s low risk of re-injury and that it’s unlikely to make much difference to his overall recovery time either way. Now imagine the coaches say that the offense/Nuss really need the work, and Nussmeier himself says he’s fine and wants to play. What do you do?

I’m not saying that’s exactly how it went down. Nobody really knows at this point. If it did go down that way, it certainly appears to have backfired. But I’m a little surprised so many people are unwilling to even consider the tradeoff here.

If he truly has an an strain it’s buttfricking retarded he played vs SLU and even Tech
That was my thought at the time. In that particular press conference he said he was “fighting through it” and “wouldn’t be able to shut it down until the bye week”. If the bye week was expected to make that much of a difference, why not rest him against Southeastern which would give him a de facto bye week to get better for Ole Miss.

Also why hasn’t Nuss been living in that VR world? Jayden was all about it.

Nuss has played horribly and if not fit for 5 turnovers and a pick 6 by the D, we very well might be 0-2 to start conference play.

He can’t move well, can’t push the ball down field….his poor play is hurting the team.

We don’t have a good enough OL and running game to hide him as he heals up.

You went out and paid good money for a back up with SEC experience for this exact scenario and instead of using him we just waited until it bit us in the arse. At minimum, he had no business playing in the non conference games

Don’t believe a word he says any longer.

I stopped listening to him years ago

The fact some fans still think he's being truthful when he talks to us amazes me.

Hopefully the athletic dept can "convince" him to retire after 2026 when we lose 3-4 games for the 5 straight year.

I’d assume this means MVB got a healthy dose of reps in fall.

I think Kelly thought they were going to body bag Ole Miss. The game week rhetoric sounded a lot like FSU in 2023. Obviously wrong, but that would explain the decision not to shut Nuss down against SELA when you combine it with thinking he was improving.

The decision to play against SELA also wasn’t made knowing we were going to OM without Durham. As mad as the telestrstor made everyone about him a couple weeks ago, he’s clearly the best back and would have gotten more than the 2 touches the RBs got in the first half. Without him you can’t hide Nuss against anybody.

Bets we’ll still see an opening drive of 7 yard behind the line of scrimmage pass to the left followed by a run into the back of the Center, then a severely under thrown pass then punt.

Damn, bruh, you just gave our game plan to all of our remaining opponents.

BK is going on vacation today till Sunday
Have fun BK good luck fishing !
Shouldnt you be watching film and trying to get better offensive schemes. Well come to think about it why would you give a fick with the contract you have . BK interviewed Dana Holgerson before the 2024 season for an offensive analyst .
BK in his arrogants told him you want do what I want you to do and he responded to. BK and said what is that you want me to do and BK responded you just want to it . Anyone seen Nebraskas offense lately ?
So arrogant he’s calling large boosters to use there PJ to go to south Florida on vacation .

Maybe as a consultant he could have helped the offense win one more game .

Just don’t get it ! He is looking at being an underdog in at least 3 to 4 more games and he’s going fishing .
