For God's sake...at least copy/paste:

On the permanent three-game schedule, #LSU has been told its Alabama, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

Kelly: "It's not something I've thought much about, because playing SEC opponents, that's why I came here. So I come at it from a different perspective."

aTm is fricking lame, no one cares. Should have been Florida or Auburn.

If true, it's like I've been saying for years. SEC wants TA&M to be LSU's primary rival...been pushing it day 1 and nothing really happened till 7-OT. I don't like it either... It's Bama, OM, FL...

No idea what SEC was thinking was dropping our only permanent opponent now for aTm. Florida should drop OU and we drop aTm to play each other and aTm/OU are permanent opponents.

Makes way more sense

You people need to realize that in this new paradigm, nobody gets exactly what they want. You can't just pick your three teams. Because all of the ones you pick would have to also pick you. And the math would have to work out over a field of 16 schools, and that's HARD.

This is fine. Let's play football.

New rule.

If you can’t start a thread properly, you should be banned from doing so.

I don’t really get people’s issue with aTm.

I enjoy beating up on those pretentious asshats. They are such try-hards and it’s satisfying when we destroy any hopes of a playoff run for them.

I like the idea of playing them permanently

Agreed. There’s a ton of cross talk between alumni given the oil and gas industry and proximity to Houston etc.

It only makes more sense if you start with the premise that Florida is the preferred rival for LSU and the premise that Florida views LSU as a primary rival. Neither is true. LSU being paired with A&M is a strong indicator that is what LSU preferred. There is a vocal minority on this board who think otherwise but I don’t believe you represent most fans either.

Nah, look at it from the big picture (SEC perspective).

I think A&M was brought in, with the purpose being to give LSU a rival. We like playing Bama, Auburn, and Florida; but none of those consider LSU as THE rival. Ole Miss kinda does, but LSU "outgrew" them. They tried with Arkansas, but that didn't take hold.

I suspect the league asked every team to list:
2 opponents, of which they get at least 1, that they "demand".
A bigger group, of which they'd get at least one, that they'd "like" to keep.
And the league would try to match things up, while still trying to give the newer teams (those that came in with expansions) something worthwhile.

I suspect LSU listed Bama as one of their 2 preferred, and Bama put LSU in the 2nd group "sure, we'd like to keep them if possible".

I think both A&M and Ole Miss listed LSU as a preferred, and LSU had them as ok to keep.

I'm uncertain who our 2nd preferred opponent would have been. Maybe Ole Miss, for the history? Auburn and Florida would be definitely at least "ok", but I don't think we're in their top 2... definitely not their main one. Auburn wants Bama and UGA, Florida wants UGA for sure.

Bama would want Auburn and Tennessee, again as their main headliners. As much as we love playing them, they basically own the series, and I think they'd be ok with it but wouldn't cry losing it.

Texas seems to have received some favoritism, they got exactly what they wanted: Oklahoma, Arkansas, and A&M. But I would also think those schools wanted Texas too, so it worked out.

Florida got Oklahoma, which strikes me as a compromise with the league- Fla says "frick it, we'll play them", and Oklahoma got a traditional SEC power to build a rivalry with. I don't think you could expand, and give both Texas AND Oklahoma pseudo-Big 12 matchups solely, or it wouldn't feel like a true expansion, more of a partnership. And, I guess Arkansas has been SEC long enough that the Texas deal was acceptable.

Calm down, dickhead. I'm just stating my preference, not demanding they burn the whole thing down.

SEC did not bring in aggy to give LSU a playmate. It primarily was to bring the Texas TV markets into the fold and expand the league’s geographic footprint

Same. I don’t even care about A&M. This sucks.
