Johnson was told a transfer qb would be brought in and an open comp would be held in spring/fall.
Jake didn't want to go to LSU.

I don’t think Max left because Brennan was coming back. He left because Howard was signing.
Now Brennan coming back has everything to do with Max leaving.
I THINK Miles would have beaten Max out this year without the flip flop injury. However there was no guarantee of beating him out next year. Max’s departure aligns him against Nuss who really didn’t impress and a talented but no experience freshman. That’s about enough of a guarantee as Brennan will get anywhere.
I hope for Brennan and LSU that his last year at LSU is terrific. I think the young man deserves it.

It’s also possible Kelly looked at other QB options first in the portal. I don’t believe for one second that Johnson left because Brennan was returning. My guess is Brennan felt the university had moved on from him and Kelly assured him he has a spot here.

Johnson was beat prior to Brennan's injury. If you need a refresher, google the "everyone in the building knows who the starter is" comments.
Of course the tard-part of the Rant thought that was Johnson.
Brennan "left" when there was uncertainty around the new staff. When CBK was announced, it was just a matter of time before it came back together.

Which is interesting. LSU odyssey (which I take with a grain of salt) posted an article with Brad and Jake saying LSU’s previous coach disrespected Max all the time. I’m not really understanding how he was disrespected. Even if it was behind the scenes, why transfer once he’s gone?!?! That makes no sense at all to me.

Johnson left because he and his brother had always planned to play together and he is hurt, so he wouldn't be playing in the bowl game anyway.
