Hope JJ brings Dale Skinner for x and o's and discipline. He had some great teams at Deridder including coaching Jones, wayne sims mike sanders and many others in late 70s. no afros were permitted! a big deal then

Its cool. If Mettenberger averages 280 a game with 3.5 TD's. LSU basketball could go 2-24 next year and not a shite will be given

shite!!!!! I will reluctantly wish him well but think we are in for more of the same. If he doesn't work out I hope that the Brown and Temple crew will step aside and give the program "a shot" instead of another entitlement hire. When does the program get its shot ?

Simply proof that roundball is a 3rd tier sport at LSU.

where are these kinds of comments coming from? Why the negativity on this board towards hiring Johnny Jones? Who out there do ya'll think would have been a better hire? JOnes just seems like a very solid pick for head BB coach IMO.

One can only hope that everyone taking the time to post on here actually sits their fanny in the PMAC for men's LSU bball games, if so we might have the start of something.

If he is such a great coach and recruiter, why was he at ntexas so long......seems the major schools would have loved a big time recruiter......

Why don't you all give him a chance before all this doom and gloom? He obviously loves LSU, and could turn out to be the right hire. Let's not write him off before he even gets started.

because he has LA connections, not every major school needing a coach is based in LA

You're just excited to have another JJ to worship.

This is complete surrender by an e-Duke AD that of all things, should have been able to land a decent BB coach. It shows that he and the administration DGAF about competing in what should be the second most important (and supported) sport on campus. Like I said, if we wanted Collis Temple as our coach, we could have just kept Brady. The devil you know...

Disappointing that my boy's are entering LSU and have no hope for watching the level of basketball I got to enjoy when I was a student.

the immaturity on this board is of epic proportion. No such thing as giving the new guy a chance; so many experts and wannabe sports pundits posting, their brilliance hurts the eyes.

Johnny is a solid hire and a good coach with LSU ties. He will recruit well and in time bring the Tigers back to the top. Welcome home Johnny!
