Elaborate. Of course they know he’s won championships decades ago. But how much does it really mean to this generation with the all the different rules that’s been in place? How much does this team relate? This is a new generation. A speech from skip as old as he is isn’t the same as a speech from the coach that they all went there to play for.

Nah. This is an idea more for the fans than for the guys actually playing. The guy is 85 years old. They’d all no doubt be respectful and appreciate it but they weren’t even alive when he won his last one. It’s just not the same. Hell most of our best players are all transfers, they didn’t even grow up loving lsu.
Let the guy they chose to travel to Louisiana to play for do the motivating. Or even a guy in a similar situation like Burrow.

Those kids dont know Skip, let the current boss handle the mo.

Let Skip bring a rope and his 5 NC rings for display. Let them know don't squander this opportunity, etc. I even hope Skip is in the stands this weekend.
This is way more exciting to the fans than the players. They don’t share the same perspective on LSU baseball as someone who has been a fan of the team for 3-4 decades.

You seem to think everyone that speaks to the team has to be some sort of hype man
You bring Skip in for perspective and to discuss the lasting legacy of winning a championship. Every single player on that team has great respect for Skip.

While I agree about not bringing in Skip, these kids know exactly who he is. Living legend. They know the history and how important Skip is to the program and the game.

this, our fans "fantasize" about the dream world where every LSU athlete is Jack Armstrong the All-American boy that was an altar boy as a kid, always dreamed of playing for LSU and will always bleed P&G, but the reality is LSU is a means to an end, they come here for exposure to get considered for the next level, especially in baseball and football, by and large they're mercenaries, and not bashing that at all, the term "student-athlete" has long been an oxymoron

Nope thats JJs team let skip say congrats after the fact.

Skip doesn't speak without an appearance fee

Could you imagine Dylan and Tommy using those bats …

hey know the history of LSU baseball, but Skip is not some "iconic" figure in their minds like he is for the fans/players that lived through the 80's - 90's.
They walk past a giant fricking statue of him every time they walk into the stadium. I'm pretty sure they are aware of his iconic status.
Hell you could see it the not too long ago when Tommy Tanks was high fiving and having a good time after a game on the field and then Skip came talk to him and he immediately went to being a respectful listener when he saw Skip.

I heard a guy named Joey is going to be in town this weekend. He may have some sage advice for the player about to embark on a championship run...

If you do not think these kids are at LSU because of what Skip built, you are just naïve. That being said, to the OP, I bet Skip talks to these kids all the time. Jay Johnson had him talk to the team at the beginning of the year.

These guys were born in the 2000s.
Most probably have no actual clue who Skip is.
It’s like growing up after Mike Ditka was with the Bears. You hear things about him but you dont really have a connection with him and only view him as the old guy on Fox football shows.
Someone like Alex Bregman or DJ Lemahieu would likely be a bigger hit with the guys.

These players are very familiar with who skip is and what he did. Very.

And change the lineup back to the dream team lineup

Surely they've walked into the hall of fame at some point. I think he might be mentioned in there...
Also I'm pretty sure he's talked to them before. True he may not be as big of a deal to them as he is for us, but they all know the man is a living legend.
