you can do all sorts of awesome things but people will focus on something trivial like owning slaves and leading a rebellion against the united states to schmear you.

FWIW we build Cannon’s statue after he did time for counterfeiting. So you probably gotta pull a darrel sharper or Joe Pa to get your statue torn down as an athlete.

Statues are awesome. I don't get why people hate them. You win a Heisman you should get a statue.

You win a national championship AND a Heisman, I think your number retires. We have two of those. We won't run out of numbers anytime soon.

Let the downvotes commence!

NAH.....there is a level that deserves retirement....not many, but a few....
Burrow earned it! No one else at this point.

You may want to rethink your word choice.

I think Burrow deserves every accolade LSU can give. Daniels is worthy of a jersey retirement.

Another person that LSU shouldn't ignore is Kevin Faulk. He was a 5 star RB who could have gone anywhere. He chose LSU when it wasn't a popular choice. He helped put LSU back on the map. Let's not forget about him as we hand out lifetime achievement awards.

When I think of #5, I think of Skyler Green

This. Many ways to honor a player but 100% against retiring numbers.

If you win a Heisman and a national championship then yeah, you should get a statue. That means you are an absolute legend and you should be honored for all time. I have no problem with retiring numbers when it comes to such legends. If they retire #9 then how can you argue against it?

The problem is that we're talking about some super rad numbers. 20, 9, and 5 are legit. IT's not like we're talking about some wack numbers like 14 or 19 or 48 or 29.

I wore 5 in baseball in high school and college because of Jeff Bagwell. Just loved how it looked on jerseys

The rioters in Wisconsin destroyed a statue of an abolitionist who was KIA in the Civil War.

In Philthydelphia they destroyed a statue of an abolitionist who supported women's suffrage.

I am fine with retiring Heisman winner's numbers. USC and others do it, although I think Carson Palmer has given USC permission to keep #9 in rotation.
