Jersey Numbers 5 and 9. Two of the greatest.

It comes as no surprise that LSU has yet to reissue Joe Burrow's No. 9 since the 2019 national championship season or Jayden Daniels' No. 5 since the end of the 2023 season.
It's also worth noting that LSU has never reissued a Heisman winner's number. Billy Cannon's No. 20 was permanently retired, and No. 9 and No. 5 have remained untouched.
Since it's the dead of the offseason, here's a question for the Rant: Where do you stand on future jersey retirements for Joe and Jayden... and maybe even statues? When do you think Verge and the board of supervisors will greenlight this?
Should LSU stick with jersey retirements, or should it also build statues like Texas, Auburn, and Florida have for their greatest players?
I imagine Tiger Stadium's architectural graphics for Joe and Jayden would eventually be updated as part of a jersey retirement ceremony, similar to the honors for Billy Cannon, Jerry Stovall, Tommy Casanova, and Charles Alexander.

Statues in general are kind of pointless…folks will find a reason to tear them down no matter the accomplishments of the person they are supposed to honor.
But statues of athletes? I’m good.

This, Plus it seems like now with recievers and LB, DE's and everyone and their brother able to wear any number, its getting limited on what numbers are even available from 1-19, the whole number system is as screwed up as NIL.

You know how bad of a person you have to be to get your statue taken down? No one just "finds a reason" to take down a statue. That's ridiculous.

Numbers should only be retired if a player wins a Heisman and a national championship.
Jayden should have his name and number in the ring of honor in the stadium, but 5 should be back in circulation.
Kevin Faulk and Glenn Dorsey should have their numbers in the stadium.

I think they can retire the name AND the number combination in a sense without taking the number out of circulation. The name and the number can be put on the stadium.

Jayden Daniels is without a doubt the most impressive #5 to play at LSU. But I can't help that my mind goes to Skyler Green.

LSU fans seem to love retiring numbers, but I am absolutely not a fan.

LSU has a process for this
Jersey retirement (5 years)
Statue (10 years)
Joe is eligible now for jersey retirement (has anyone nominated him?) & Jayden is eligible in 28 or 29?

I can’t stand the semantics on this site about retiring “numbers” or “jerseys” 
I get what you mean but it’s the same damn thing in the eyes of LSU. There are only retired “jerseys” & it is up to the coach’s discretion if that number can be worn again.

As a whole and not just limited to us, juniors with a first round draft grade
seem to suffer from "nagging injuries" in their last season of college football.
Very often for us these have been the recepients of the number 7.
Devon White is the only player we have had that had a first round grade and was significantly better his last year. Peterson and Campbell maintained their all american level and some others played well, just not quite as good as their sophmore seasons.
