re: Transfer portal and high school recruits
Posted by eelsuee on 4/10/25 at 7:21 am
It mattered more when there were class limits of 25, someone who transfers would count against two class limits. Someone who transfers twice would count against three. Now that it's only roster limits, someone transferring opens up one spot to fill another.
Derek Curiel hit 314 senior year of high school

Batted .314 with 33 hits – including 10 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun – 21 RBI and 19 stolen bases in his senior year (2024) at Orange Lutheran High School
He was 3rd in BA and 4th in HR on his high school team

That wasn't an elite national travel/showcase team but a high school team. I can't fathom the level of high school competition that it makes sense for that BA to be tied to a very elite prospect. Right now he is batting 136 points higher against D1 (mediocre before SEC play) college pitching than what he faced in high school. He probably finishes his first season at LSU with a better BA than his last season of HS.
In no way am I bashing Curiel, he could have one of the best freshmen seasons in LSU history. I just find this very interesting and thought some of you would too. I admit it exposes my ignorance on how the scouts could correctly identify a guy that didn't hit for power or average in high school. There are many reasons I am not paid to evaluate baseball talent.

Don’t be shocked to seen Jones leadoff some games.
I would be, he lead the team in homeruns and strike outs last year with only 2 stolen bases. Typically you want those numbers batting behind your highest OBP guys. He has a great OBP as well but use his bat for RBI, not as a lead-off or following the bottom of the lineup.

Not seeing Guidry being a Friday night starter....has he added any pitches?
re: If Underwood makes it to campus, fans need to realize, he's not a day 1 starter!

Jake Fromm started as a true freshmen off GA…. They went to the natty.
In that game Fromm was a true freshman who lost to true freshman Tua, who replaced Jalen Hurts, who won the natty as a true freshman. Anyone who thinks a freshman QB can't start in major college football hasn't followed closely in the last 15 years.

This seems like a preemptive melt.
re: Holman signed with Reds under slot

Holman was selected with the 71st pick of the draft, during the supplemental part of the second round, and his slot value was worth $1,110,600. Holman signed with the Reds for only $997,500.
Come on man, insist on the extra $2,500 just so you can say you got $1M.
re: If J. Gilbert and Z. Alexander are starters . . . who else rounds secondary?
Posted by eelsuee on 7/20/24 at 8:01 am
That secondary was way too bad to fall entirely on the players, coaching changes alone will be a big improvement.
Deuce Chestnut was freshman all-american and two time all ACC. Denver Harris was a starter for A&M as a true freshman on a stout defense (before suspension). Lots of talented incoming freshman. The transfer from Ohio State. I refuse to believe all of them were busts.

How does team chemistry affect baseball?
It doesn't in baseball other than a little between pitchers and catchers. In football or basketball, knowing your teammates strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies (where they will be) is critical. Leaning the system in those sports and operating as a unit is important. Baseball is 9 individuals playing their positions and the only way your teammates make you look better is by being better at their position.
re: A very sincere THANK YOU to Alabama

We traded them Eli Ricks for Holman, what a steal.
re: Sell me on this team’s Hitting
Posted by eelsuee on 2/24/24 at 11:25 pm
It's early in the season and LSU has the luxury of winning most games while experimenting with inexperienced players and different batting orders. Last year's team went cold for several weeks late in the season and turned it back around. LSU has a lot of talent and quality coaches, no need to worry this early.
re: Billiot will be a Star at LSU

I tried looking up his track stats and this is all I could find.

And he doesn't show up in the top 10 of the 100 which is as low as 11.63 seconds. No idea where 247 got their numbers but it is way different than this. This is his 10th grade status but there are 2023 stats on it as well.

re: How fast is JD? 40 and 100 times?
Posted by eelsuee on 11/12/23 at 9:00 pm

Holiday was the fastest LSU player EVER!
re: What’s more frustrating for you to watch? A Les Miles offense or a Matt House defense?
Posted by eelsuee on 11/8/23 at 8:53 pm
The Les Miles offense proved to be unfixable, I at least have hope that the defense can be fixed with a coaching change.

People like you who act like there aren't major problems on this team and with this staff are annoying as well.
You negatigers suck
Posted by eelsuee on 10/1/23 at 3:36 pm
BK took over a horrendous roster and won the toughest division in college football in year 1. We all had high expectations this year and everyone is disappointed so far but you jackasses acting like BK is incompetent are overreacting vaginas.
re: Eletric generators for tailgating

Usually the only issue is loud generators. Get an inverter type and it's very unlikely anyone complains.
