Jayden's only way to almost get out of this self-inflicted PR disaster is...

..throw his people under the bus. "I'm busy preparing for our first game and had a few conversations with my attorney and camp about this and should have paid more attention to what they were doing and the potential impact. Consider the matter dropped and I apologize for this distraction. Blah Blah Geaux Tigers"

I don't see any other way out, and even this won't satisfy everybody. Regardless, he needs this to end quickly.

He already signed off on it. He knew good and well what they were doing. Walking it back doesn’t do much imo.

You may be right SG. It's a mess and so stupid. He just needs it to end quickly and hope LSU has a great season. The Commanders too. If he has a bad year, this distraction will be brought up.

So stupid.

The other way out is to go full heel and lean hard into playing the race card, but that may burn every bridge at LSU and with LSU fans forever.

That might have worked before it was just reported that his camp requested that LSU return the school’s copy of his Heisman.

There’s no way a request of that magnitude comes from his camp without his approval.

He deserves all the boos he’s going to get next time Washington plays in the superdome. I can’t think of any former star player at any school, especially a Heisman winner, who went from beloved fan favorite to persona non grata in such a short span.

Daniels’ attorney went to Florida and lives in Miami.

DJ Pickett committed to LSU over Florida and Miami because of #5.

If the attorney believed that, took it personally and the cease-and-desist was driven by bitterness over it without Jayden’s endorsement, then I’d welcome Jayden back.

But he isn’t throwing Mom under the bus.

Nope, he can't put the genie back in the bottle.

That, along with "permission" for Pickett to wear #5, would work.

Has Jayden ever said Geaux Tigers since leaving?

This dude, as far as I can tell, has been anything but an ambassador for LSU in any way.

He had a great year here. That’s it. Dude had no interest in immersing himself into the culture, university or fandom.

I hope this goes to court, he loses, and then has to pay a big chunk of change to LSU.

It's too late now that we know about him wanting the Heisman back. That's not your legal team's doing - that's him. I doubt he has any intention of apologizing, sadly. An unfortunate stain for him that I hope he learns and grows from.

Drop the whole thing right now and keep quiet on LSU for awhile and people will view it as a little hiccup. I have a feeling that’s not going to happen though.

An apology would probably salvage some of this for a lot of LSU fans.

I agree and the sooner the better from a PR standpoint.
