And he will say
Get the win (top 8 seed, didnt come out and say it)
Give the team greatest flexibiity for matchups next week
Keep both pitchers pitch count down.

What an opportunity for a third arm to rise to the occasion tomorrow!!!

I am sure there are many not ok with it. I am. But no way in hell a coach is burning his top two starters in a walkover win. That would be insane
Why?

I think it’s all of the above! And he absolutely knows what he’s doing. He doesn’t need to win this tournament. He wants to get his guys some good baseball experience before playing next week and this helped him do all of it.
While still having and giving other guys a booster shot in the arm to go win this thing with them. If they do, it’ll be a huge boost for their confidence going forward, if they don’t, maybe they come back next week and perform better. But we still have plenty of arms to win this or play deep into it.
That’s the entire point of this tournament, not to necessarily win it but to win while also setting yourself up for tournament success. That’s when this matters anyway. We have three legit starters left to pitch the rest of this thing and relievers to finish. While also giving them some confidence when something is on the line. It matters but it’s not the end of a season if they don’t and if they do, it could help us down the line.

Will Helmers told you retards 2 days ago what was gonna happen. CJJ has the matchup advantage now for next weekend. We don’t know who we will play. Maybe they hit lefties better and the 2 seed struggles against lefties. Then you can throw Eyanson against the 4 seed and Anderson against the 2.
ETA: CJJ just confirmed it on SEC Now

Eyanson would have come in no matter what the score was

He said in interviews we are out to win it

I'm actually more confident about the CWS than I was before... I think Jay thinks he has a great shot with this team, and he's doing the little things to get ready the right way.
Tonight was perfect from this perspective: both Anderson and Eyanson were sharp and effective, and both got decent work, but also kept their pitch count down. That's what you want the week before the Regionals start.
Tomorrow, you get to use 2 potential starters (Shores and Evans) against a good team, and you get to use Cowan to close out 1-2 innings. If we win again, great; but if we lose, we still got those guys some good work in.
Sunday if we get there, you get to use a bunch of dudes, see if they can get 1-2 innings against another good team. Keeping in mind these games are against better opponents (even A&M, playing for their lives) than we should see in our regional, and likely in a Super.
This is what a top ranked team should be doing in this tournament; getting ready for the real games that start next week.

Nah. We’re the consensus #1 team in the country. We are a top 8 regardless.
Jay wants a top 3 seed. He knows the road he wants when he gets to Omaha.

Moscona thinks Jay is a Les Miles type of coach.
I guess Matt should probably take over duties in the dugout.

CJJ said post game he decided last Saturday he was pitching both of them today to get work and rest prior to NCAA. So I guess that answers your question. But hell maybe CJJ is a liar.

I would not have done that therefore Jay Johnson is a moron. Let's see how it works out.

Thank you.
He also said he wanted to have the option of either pitcher for Friday depending upon the matchup. And wanted to see the team play one without those two.
Further planning ahead. He is usually planning ahead.

normal occurrence
without looking it up i’m sure every top 8 SEC seed used their best two pitchers the first game of this tourny

Eyanson not coming in the game if LSU is up by 5 or more when Anderson went out…
False, he was always coming into the game to piggyback anderson regardless of score. Some of us hinted at this before yesterday
