Thank god Woodward whiffed on Casey, Sully, Bianco, McDonnell, Vitello. LSU might of ended up with a no named Johnson.

Edit: 75 idiots not realizing this is sarcasm. You people

I realize the sarcasm but I still downvoted for the "might of"

Scott, as he should, vetted a lot of candidates.

From what I've heard, the final 3 on his wish list were Johnson, O'Sullivan, and McDonnell. McDonnell was a non-starter, didn't want to uproot his family and politely declined even a conversation. O'Sullivan had some bad press, not sure how far or well the conversations went. Johnson was aggressively interested in LSU (mutually) and had the best pitch to Scott about what he'd do to win.

That's an amalgamation of a few different stories I heard from the BRCC water cooler. All 3 would've done very well here, but glad we got Jay.

I’m not sure how McDonell would have done here. He had the ville rolling but lately they have taken big steps back. I get they don’t have the resources we do.

Makes sense, I definitely remember Sully's name during the coaching search. And "It's McDonnell". Also others like Mike Bianco and Pat Casey. But Scott picked the best option, so glad that Jay is here.

Don't forget about this boards favorite guy, McDonnell. 73-45-1. Lost in the supers last year and didn't come close to making the tournament this year.

It's McDonnell was my choice. So thankful it was Jay Johnson. No other coach I would want.

Vitello is killing it in the transfer portal. They’re going to be around at the top for a while as long as he is there. Wouldn’t be surprised if they get it done soon.

The "not a fit for LSU" idea because of where they are from or where they have coached is absolute bullshite.

The only fit that matters is winning.

When Jay was hired I didn't know if he would work out due to him being a West Coast guy all of his career prior to LSU. Proved me wrong, :)

When you’ve got a winning Johnson, the past doesn’t matter.

I believe he [Sully] was the first choice

I don't. if you listened to Woodward's interview this week on 104.5 Woodward sounded like a guy who was going to let the interviews play out, meaning Woodward's choice wasn't preordained, not for Sully not for anyone. Jay blew them away, and according to Woodward, within seconds of Jay leaving the room it was unanimous that LSU had its next baseball coach.

Working out pretty damn awesome, lol.

Scott goes big game hunting. He’s bagged us the heir apparent to Saban, and two national championship winners. Give the man his credit.

That girl has huge FUPA

Uh, no she doesn't. You need to Google some pics of fupa to refresh your memory on what that actually looks like. (but not while you're eating)

The girl in the pic is quite attractive.

If you looked at his teams at Arizona you would have noticed he was not the type of West Coast coach we think of when we say that

This.

His teams were never the stereotypical west coast small ball teams, now with that being said he could always manufacture runs, but it wasn’t like his teams were bunting and stealing as soon as they got on base.

I still remember when we were tracking the LSU plane and it was heading to Arizona. Everyone was like WTF?

I think I recall Brandon McCarthy being the one to break Jay was the front runner

Meanwhile fake insider Moscona was declaring Bianco was days away from being announced

Bmac called it first for sure while bud light drinking lady scone was screaming it was Bianco.

Worked out for everyone, ole miss wouldn’t have gotten last years title with a different coach and no way Mike Bianco is delivering a title here

Maybe, but this fan base isn’t going to give him 10 years to win a title. I like Mike but he had business being mention in the job discussion.
