Nah, there aren’t many that treat it like it’s government top secret type stuff like he does. But it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day.

Jay is blessed to have a local media that refuses to do its job and actually ask objectively pressing questions.

No they don't. Coaches aren't going to give their opponents any kind of advantage if they can prevent it.

You don't need to. You gain nothing by knowing injury status and it's a potential disadvantage foe us if he let's that information out. Even if it's a very minor disadvantage, he's not going to do it. Coaches gmhave been withholding that kind of I formation for a very long time.

I guarantee you that it is from something she printed when he said it off the record and she did it anyway.

That is a trust issue.

Chicken is paying Jay to take the "no comment" approach because the speculation drives traffic on the site.

I agree that the fans don't have a "right" to know anything. If that is how the HC wants to handle it, so be it.

But as far as disadvantages go, I think baseball is probably one of the least impacted sports with prior knowledge of injuries. It's not like football where coaches spend a week game-planning. If a position player is out it's not really going to change much as to how the opposition plays. And that is something that can be adjusted to on the fly pretty easily. From a pitching standpoint, the coaches will probably watch film on the all of the pitchers they will likely face, so it is not as if their whole plan will be out the window if they find out they are facing a different pitcher than previously anticipated right before gametime.

Perhaps the only real impact is if you tailor your lineup to face a left hander and it comes out just before the game that the opposing starting pitcher will be a right hander. Even then, that is a pretty easy fix because you will know who the opposing pitcher is well before the lineup cards are turned in. Another potential impact is if a great base-stealer is injured. However, LSU doesn't run, so even that is not that big of a deal.

Again, Johnson can handle it however it wants. It's his program. He doesn't owe me a press conference...EVER. But being so tightlipped probably isn't something that is absolutely necessary.

You literally just made that up.

For this to be true, that would mean that Jay divulged information to a reporter that he didn't want printed. Does Jay seem like the "chum it up with the press" kind of guy to you?

And she didn't even come back rested and ready to deliver. She's definitely a liability for us down the stretch. Can't be trusted to do the dirty work and never know when she may take time off.

You guys act like Jay is on the verge of leading an attack on the country.

He is a baseball coach. He can say whatever he wants to say. The media’s job is to tell the story. A good sports media person knows what the coach will and won’t talk about and lean towards what he will talk about so they can actually tell us the fans something about the team.

If they just asked questions they know he doesn’t want to talk about they will just 1. Get “no comment” over and over again and 2. Create discontent with the coach that leads to less and less information.
