Screw that progressive liberal bullshite phrasing. He was the best SIXTH MAN in the country.

Do you use the phrases "no worries" and "my guy" also???

Willie Sims was always introduced with the starting five. Sid Crocker was the announcer and always said " and introducing the best 6th man in all of college basketball Willie Sims.

Willie's nickname was the Black Jet.

My point is, Crocker said sixth man, not sixth person like some orange haired soy boy would. It's why a lot of younger sports fans believe that dyke from Iowa is about to become the top scorer in college basketball. No, she'll be the top scorer in lesbian basketball. Pete is, and most likely always will be the top scorer in college basketball history.

If the poster SOMEHOW made an honest mistake, I apologize.

When someone mentions "Toxic Masculinity"...save this post so you can help explain it!

Perhaps the best LSU basketball team! We should have won it all that year. The stadium was rocking every game.

That was a great team but Indiana shut down UNC in the finals the same way they shut down LSU in the semis. That UNC team had James Worthy, Sam Perkins (two future great NBA PFs) and a very talented and deep team. I've said it before, even if LSU got past IU, they would not have matched up well against UNC. That LSU team was great and should have no regrets. The 1980 and 1981 teams were my all-time favorite teams.

He was Mr. Basketball in Kentucky. The fact that Dale got him to come here is unbelievable.

Rick Huckaby was hired because he was Tom Curry‘s head coach. When he left and went to Marshall, Tom Curry went with him. Tom Curry was deemed a can’t miss prospect and LSU really wanted him.

Leonard Mitchell had a surefire 10 to 12 year NBA career waiting on him until he injured his elbow. Freak accident at home where he severed the ulna nerve in his elbow and was never the same player. SAD

I was at LSU from 78-81 and saw Rudy, Dwayne Scales, Ethan Martin, Greg "Cookie Man" Cook and the rest of those great players. It was an exciting time to be a Tiger basketball fan!
I was in high school then but had season tickets. The Assembly Center (before it was called the PMAC) was absolutely rocking those years. Just insane.

Those were, by far, the best years of LSU basketball in my opinion.

This would be great in the correct board

On February 6, 2010, at halftime of the LSU vs. Kentucky basketball game, Macklin became the fourth LSU men's basketball player to have his jersey retired by the school. His number 40 jersey now hangs in the rafters of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center along with Pete Maravich's number 23, Shaquille O'Neal's number 33, and Bob Pettit's number 50.

Dale hired Rudy's high school coach, Ron Abernathy.

1978/79 season to 1992/93 season under Dale Brown was a fun time to be an LSU basketball fan. Averaged 21.5 wins a season, a .67 winning percentage, made 2 final fours and 2 regional finals.

That's why I always bristle at the moronic posts of "LSU is not a basketball school" as a rational to accept mediocrity. During that time period getting into the PMAC (or just the "AC" for most of that time) was the toughest ticket in town. Students used to camp outside on the ramps before games. The games were rocking and loud! So to suggest suggest LSU can't have a good basketball is asinine. LSU wasn't a "baseball school" either until the late 80's (if that).

It takes finding the right HC and a willingness to not accept mediocrity. I'm not saying that's easy. LSU has been trying to find the right HC for nearly 40 years (they may or may not have had him in Wade), but this place could be a "basketball school" again because at one point, it was!
