mean if that's the standard then give me Cannizaro all day. Way more upsdide.
You want to hire the guy who got caught texting his side piece in the dugout during a game?

He’s 2 games above .500 in the SEC since getting to Tennessee even after winning the East this season. I’m not trying to bash him because I think he’s a good coach but you guys are reaching here. No way of know whether this season was an anomaly or not and you wanna make a huge commitment based on an outlier season?

Maybe I'm petty, but I cant fricking stand cringe arse videos like that and it would be enough ,by itself, for me to pass on him.

“Sure, but he’s doing it Tennessee not Charleston Southern. O’Sullivan hasn’t proven he can do it anywhere except Florida, and whether anyone in this fan base wants to admit it or not that’s an easier recruiting/scholarship money management situation than LSU is.”
There’s no consistency or rationale in this statement. Your standards fluctuate depending on the coach you prefer. No uniformity in the comparison at all.

Vitello looks like he has a bright future but yes it would make a lot more sense for Woodward to throw the bank at a proven post-season producer with a long track record like O'Sullivan.
Maybe not the slam dunk home run hire that Mulkey is but it's totally in line with the type of hires Woodward has made at LSU and A&M.

Yes outlier
12-18
14-16
Are very similar
20-10 isn’t which makes it an outlier

Most of that is definitely his first two seasons, but I am curious how bad was Tennessee when he took them over?
Well you need realize that even around .500 is incredible at Tenn, because in 2017, before he took them over, they were 7-21 in conference play..
I would say what he has done is miraculous at Tenn. Imagine at LSU..
Tenn 2017 Season
I think he was going to be highly successful last season as well.

How does Vitello have more upside lol
The same way Skip Bertman had more upside in 1985. There’s a reason it’s called upside.
We shall see if Vitello will be successful long term but he’s done phenomenal things in a short time at Tennessee

I can understand the ECU hype video. Greenville, NC is literally BFE, and it's for recruiting and fan support. The fact that he can get kids to go there should be a feather in his cap.

Which parts specifically? Vitello has built an elite roster at a school more comparable to LSU’s recruiting situation than what Florida is. If you’re telling me O’Sullivan can absolutely replicate his recruiting at LSU that’s fine, but it’s just your opinion and you have no data points to support it.

He built those stud TCU teams from a few years ago and the some the badass Ark teams - he's the best recruiter in the country
Do you know what Tenn baseball progam was like when he got there? To have them this good this fast just shows you how good he is

You’re right and I’m not an O’Sullivan honk, I’m not here to defend that choice as the favorite. I’m just saying the Vitello obsession is very odd and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

They aren’t similar at all. They were a regional finalist in year two after missing the tournament in year 1, and you’re conveniently leaving out last season.

Arkansas has been on a near 20 year run, they’ve been established for a very long time and he got there in like 2014. I’d give him more credit for TCU but still he didn’t build that program either.

Its Tennessee
He's a hell of a recruiter.
