Every year losing out of state big prospects with underwood being the latest and now becoming more and more a thing losing top Louisiana talent in a bad need pos like dt with jakeem stewart the writing is on the wall and is concerning

Paying 12 mil for a kid that hasn’t played a down?
Get out of here with that. We absolutely can compete. Kelly just has to be smart about who he’s going after.

And, yet their recruiting classes keep hovering around the Top 5.

Ok fine no underwood but the telling part which shocked me is the inability to get jakeem here!! The in state kid and you badly need dlineman!! Michigan knew they couldnt lose their in state kid and made it happen but lsu cant!!!

The class is not signed yet

They can compete. It's just a matter of getting the right people in position to be effective. You basically have view NIL like a NFL scouting operation in free agency. You can't leave it up to Coaches , they already have too much on their plate.

Do you realize that much of this will come , directly or indirectly, from the schools themselves? LSU has the 6th largest athletic dept in terms of revenue.

How does the OP explain LSU landing a top 10 class last season? And predicting a top 10 class this season?

Some people just want to leave the state. The state of Louisiana is not 100% die hard fans. That has never and will never be the case.

Football is gonna sign a top 10 (maybe 5) class again. Baseball continues to recruit at the top level. Women's basketball is doing great. Men's basketball is even picking up.
Not giving an unproven high school kid $10 million doesn't mean. We can't compete. It seems like a decision we've made. Whether that decision is good or bad for the future of our football program is yet to be seen.
I can't imagine trying to maintain a locker room with 1 freshman making 10x as much as a bunch of juniors and seniors, though. If I had to guess, Michigan is gonna struggle with the outcomes of this decision.

So Underwood is the reason for your idiotic thread.
One of the richest dudes in the world decided that he wanted Underwood and would pay him whatever it took. There isn't another team in CFB that would have competed with that.
It's also not a sustainable tactic.
Quit crying. You sound like a bitch.

Underwood aside the big advantage lsu has in the soil in state and very alarming cracks are showing with louisiana kids this year alone!!! Devin haper to ole piss jaboree antoine to miami and now jakeem stewart to usc ohio state or oregon!!! 3 big needs in state in 1 class

I don’t know if OP’s blanket assertion about LSU competing is correct, because it depends on the definition of “competing” which seems to differ from fan to fan. 8-4/9-3 most years with a top 5 team every 5 years? Sure LSU can compete. Top 5 every year like Ohio State, Texas, and Oregon seem to be trending. No, LSU cannot compete.
It seems that LSU can’t compete at consistently landing the top level guys. Think where LSU would be if it had landed Colin Simmons, DK Moore, Bryce Underwood and Jonah Williams. All seemingly wanted to go to LSU until they were made offers they couldn’t refuse. TBD on Stewart from our own state.

What top Louisiana talent did LSU lose out on last year (2024 class)?
LSU signed the consensus 5 star DT and top player in Louisiana last year.

You don’t know what you’re talking about

I don't agree with the OP… But I also think that recruiting rankings don't mean squat until after signing day
