AJ McCarron and Stetson Bennet won back-to-back national championships and Greg Mcelroy won a national championship. So yeah, with the right team, he most assuredly is.

If Stetson Bennet can win a title, Nuss certainly can. He has some things to work on and we need more quality starters and depth at certain positions. But, it's certainly a possibility.

I don’t think the Burrow/Nussmeier first year comparison that’s being thrown around is great, simply because our offensive scheme in 2018 was so much different than 2019 onward.

I actually think Jayden’s first year at LSU is a better comp. Both Daniels and Nussmeier had to carry the offense. Both had some difficulty connecting on deep balls despite clearly having plenty of arm strength. Jayden needed to focus on keeping his eyes downfield instead of taking the easy run, while Nuss needs to take the easy run instead of forcing it downfield. The interceptions have certainly been a problem, but his INT% (while high) isn’t that crazy compared to other QBs in that 3,500+ yard range this year.

I don’t know if Nuss can take a Burrow/Daniels-esque step in year 2, but I think it’s a little crazy to assume that he can’t. If Nussmeier comes back, QB is the least of my concerns next year. To me, rebuilding on OL and getting the running game going are much bigger issues.

the last 3 QBs were Mac Jones, Stetson Bennett, and JJ McCarthy. You don't have to have the #1 pick to win a natty. That said, the only way for us to match the talent of any of those teams would be return all the guys on the fence and wreck the portal.

But most of the rant is infatuated with the backup.

I typically don't post much once the scoreboard opens, because I'm usually doing stuff with a group of people watching the game. I wasn't Saturday though, and OMG the level of stupidity is off the charts.

You heard bitching and moaning about Nuss all the up until he was injured. Then it took 1 1/2 series for the morons to flip on Swann as well. They want the back up until they have the back up, then they want his back up. If the rant was in control of anything we would have the entire staff replaced by midseason, and every QB on the depth chart would be put in the game.

With a great defense and a solid running game? Sure. He is a weapon at QB, but he provides little running and if relied upon to throw 40 times he will turn it over.

Is Nuss the weak link?

We’ve got more pressing concerns.

All you hear is how JB used his legs. Sure, he did, in 2019.....but in 2018

Burrow had more rushing yards and TDs (in 2 fewer games) in 2018 than he did in 2019.

JJ Mcarthy, Stenson Bennett, Mac Jones all have won NC this decade. The answer is YES

Depends. Jordan Jefferson made it to a national championship.

I'm not as high on him as I was on Burrow or Daniels after one year but I know he's capable of elite play because I've seen him play at that level. And at 54 years old I have seen a lot of QBs win NCs who never came close to an elite level.

Look at the other QBs likely in the playoffs
Nuss is as good if not better than most
It’s pretty simple really

The low IQ is not surprising anymore. It’s the rule, not the exception.

Doesn't seem that way. Fans here remember that last game against a TERRIBLE Oklahoma team.
They forget the rest of his resume when he was exposed.

Yad Yada yada...JB took 2 years, ....NO, Joe didn't have flaws exposed. He basically had to lead LSU in rushing because of team flaws.

Nuss is solid, but not elite at all

depends on what’s around him.

Although shite, post-Shoulder injury Nuss looked like one.
