Miami is #8 in the 1st Coaches Poll.

ESPN POST SPRING TOP 25- Miami #8

Hurricanes quarterback Malik Rosier/set a Miami record with 31 total touchdowns last season/threw too many interceptions/held off redshirt freshmen N'Kosi Perry and Cade Weldon and early enrollee Jarren Williams this spring, but Miami coach Mark Richt said the competition will continue during preseason camp.

Miami's defensive line, one of its strengths last season, must be revamped/Craig Kuligowski, one of the top defensive-line coaches in the FBS, took a job at Alabama.

ESPN PRE SEASON TOP 25- Miami #9
The returning starters at linebacker and in the secondary combine to give the Hurricanes one of the best units in the ACC/The offensive line remains a work in progress, and that could cause trouble Week 1 against what should be a tough LSU defense.

SUMMARY:

-QB throws too many interceptions; in a QB battle despite throwing a school record # of TDs
- Have OL issues
- Lost a bunch of guys on DL which was a strength last year; lost their DL coach too
- DBs and LBs are good.

Interceptions + Bad OL + Questions on DL = Top 10 team?

Is the ACC that weak?

I don't think Miami is going to be that good this year.

ETA: that being said, unless it's a historic arse kicking, I won't be taking too much from a win here.

They are not.

They got railed by a physical Clemson team and I expect us to do the same.

Remember, Clemson got raped by Bama a few weeks later.

They are not as good as that ranking.

But we have O....

Probably not, but why are you complaining? LSU is getting no respect right now. If they beat a top 10 Miami team out the gate then maybe LSU will stop being the butt of so many media jokes.

They are a top 10 team because they are ranked in the top ten. (Drops mic)

They’ll just say Miami was over rated and let’s see how they do against Auburn.

I don't think they are a top 10 team, but neither are we.

Don't sleep on them. Despite what some will say on this board, Richt is a really good coach. He did a lot with ok talent at Georgia. They may have the best secondary in the country and even though their Dline is a "rebuild", they didn't lose anybody else. Expect them to be improved. Their LBs will be really good. Our Oline will have a challenge on their hands as we are going to be breaking in 4 new starters.

It should be a hard fought game. We could very well lose.

But I don't think we will. LSU 21-17

Who gives a shite.

I personally want them to be top 10. Looks better on our resume if we win.

Look at their 2018 schedule

vs LSU
vs Savannah State
@ Toledo (WTF?)
vs FIU
vs North Carolina
vs Florida State
@ Virginia
@ Boston College
vs Duke
@ Georgia Tech
@ Virginia Tech
vs Pitt

They don't play Clemson or Notre Dame. Florida State is at Home. It's safe to say they should be favored in most of their games. They will most likely play for the ACC title as long as they get destroyed by the injury bug.

Coming from a Canes fan, we are not. Top 15 for sure but an inconsistent QB and little depth along the DL keeps us out of the top 10.

If Malik bumps up his completion percentage by 5-10%, Willis lives up to his ranking, and our OTs are solid I don't see why we couldn't be though.

Miami is a Top20 team, but not a Top 10 team IMO.

And LSU is a Top15 team, not a Top25 or "others receiving votes" team.

OMG, if that was LSU's schedule I'd be putting money aside for CFB playoff tickets.

No one knows. Preseason rankings are dumb.
