re: Is Miami really a top 10 team? Tell me why

Actually Miami hasnt lost a ton on the DLine. We have upgraded vastly at DE and have two 6”5 studs their. Including a 6”8 freshman who was a safety/WR who been terrorizing our backup OL all summer. Remember Greg Rousseau. DLINE is a strength. Also, we loaded elsewhere at every position group. The Oline also has two new/better starters than the below average two we lost. The threee returning are stud players. We easily a top 8 team. EASY.

“ too much from a win here “
Miami is a team that lived much of last season in the top 10 and finished ranked 13th. They start this season ranked in the top 10.
With the way things have gone of late for LSU football, I’ll take a one point win on a neutral site over a top 10 ranked team and be pretty damn happy.
Would a win mean we are playoff bound? No, but a win would be a significant change In the direction the program seems to be headed if only for a week or two.

All based on last season and a little info sportswriters glean from looking at returning players.

Chad, Norton, RJ, and Trent were basically our starters and all are gone to the NFL. Moten as well. We lost a lot bruh.
DE is a strength but we literally have 5, 6 if you want to count Joyner, with only three having experience.

Probably not, but why are you complaining? LSU is getting no respect right now. If they beat a top 10 Miami team out the gate then maybe LSU will stop being the butt of so many media jokes.

Nope which is perfect for us. PERCEPTION is everything. When we beat dat arse it will resonate more than it should.

and even though their Dline is a "rebuild", they didn't lose anybody

In 2017, Miami led the nation in sacks per game at 3.38 while totaling 44 sacks in 13 games. UM finished third in the country in tackles for loss last year, averaging 8.5 per game.

The biggest question mark surrounding the Miami defensive line this offseason concerned the state of the defensive tackle position. Both RJ McIntosh and Kendrick Norton left for the NFL Draft following their junior seasons,
Those two guys were the two starters at DT, were both drafted as juniors, and accounted for 20 TFL and 4.5 sacks, which is a lot at the DT position.

UM lost the majority of their pass rushers last season in defensive ends Trent Harris and Chad Thomas along with defensive tackle RJ McIntosh. Those four players combined to total 18.5 total sacks.

So other than losing both DT's and both DE's and almost all of their production, yeah, they didn't lose anybody.

Edited.
It was supposed to say they didn't lose anybody else

They played well last year and return a large majority of their starters. Anybody who thinks Miami will be a cakewalk is kidding themselves. We're gonna have to play very well to win.

Production is going to get replaced regardless.
We had 43 sacks last year and only lost 16.5
Had 110 plus tfls last year and only lost 35.5 tfls
That can definitely be replaced since we are returning most of our production.
Jon Garvin is a freak on the edge and is 6’5 252, and joe Jackson is even bigger 6’5.5 265-270 now and has 15 sacks in his first 2 years. Gerald Willis is an upgrade over both rj McIntosh and Kendrick Norton . And we have other talented dts who have some experience but not a lot . Demetrius Jackson our our 3rd best end this year in the first 6 games led the team in sacks and tfls respectively and he’s back healthy and also slides in at dt at times too

The way they finished the season along with what they have on paper does not add up to a top 10 team. It will still be a solid win for LSU to start the season, though.
Posted on 8/17/18 at 11:13 am to LSU Patrick
It's the schedule. If we had their schedule we'd be ranked pretty high.

Geez...where do I start??

Terrible grammar aside, congrats on a freshman "terrorizing" your backup OLine....this point is useless and does not convey your argument very well
quote:

You are the only one saying this, in direct contrast to every sports journalist who covers Miami....so this doesn't help your case.
quote:

This one is too easy..aside from the terribly incorrect use of the word "their", What about their slightly above average height makes them "studs"? Also, ' is for feet, " is for inches...I doubt you have anyone who's a stud at 6 inches tall
quote:
Remember Greg Rousseau. DLINE is a strength. Also, we loaded elsewhere at every position group.
More word vomit with no actual reasoning or argument other than "because I said so"
quote:
The Oline also has two new/better starters than the below average two we lost
how could these "new" guys be better than the Senior OLmen who left? Why didn't these better guys play last year?...more straight delusional fantasy being spewed from your mouth.
quote:
The threee returning are stud players.
Just because its the number 3 doesn't mean you need to include 3 of the letter E. As far as this statement goes..what makes a "stud" player from the weak as shite ACC?? Your "studs" wouldn't even be offered scholarships at an SEC school.
quote:
We easily a top 8 team. EASY.
This is pure fantasy from an obviously uneducated paper fan.
I wish I could see the look on your face after the game when you realize your team just got curb stomped. Please little man, go back to the hole you crawled out of before Daddy has to spank you again.

LSU lost to Troy last year.

Last year Miami was 9-0 vs unranked teams, and 2-2 vs ranked teams. They became ranked (13th) after week two and stayed ranked 13th for the rest of the year. Outscored 96-41 in their last three games. OVERRATED. Tigers 27-13.
