A couple of things regarding blue bloods;

The blue blood list is slow to change, i.e. there is no preseason top 25

For all intents and purposes, the blue blood list must include Army and arguably include Navy

By definition, the blue blood list is exclusive

In the 21st Century LSU is definitely a Blue Blood as to recruiting and play on the field. LSU has the second most Nattys this century. Now far as TV and followers, that’s a different “Blue Blood” , that’s the kind of Old Glory blue blood. The Blue Blood of the NFL is Dallas which hasn’t been relevant in 28 years, that’s ND, Penn St, and USC blue blood.

I disagree, it just takes a long time. Takes a long time to be removed as a blue blood and takes a long time get into the blue blood club.

I’m sure there will be a lot of debate on who is considered a true “blue blood”. These teams are no doubt considered to be “blue bloods”

Bama
Texas
OSU
Michigan
ND

Here is a link to an article from 2020

Here is a shorter list from earlier this year

Prior to the arrival of Saban, where would LSU rank as a historical program? Barely inside the top 20?

I actually studied this. Ivy League gave us Football.
Midwest enhanced it.

I’ve been making fun of Vanderbilt but they started essentially the SEC. I didn’t know Texas was a charter member of the original association.

Then there’s the West Coast.

But as far as powerhouses legitimate football programs now in no particular order:
- Alabama
- Notre Dame
- Penn State
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Clemson
- LSU
- Texas
- Oklahoma
- USC
-UCLA
- Wisconsin

* Hon mentions: Tennessee, West Virginia, Auburn, Nebraska.

After Oklahoma joins the SEC they will become a doormat for the league. Sort of like becoming a Vanderbilt without the academic prowess.

Nebraska still thinks that they are. They have a consecutive home game sell out streak dating back to 1962.

I've never understood why anyone considers UGA to be blue blood. Two national titles in 50 years doesn't exactly speak to being upper crust.

It’s kind of absurd. Auburn arguably has more historic bona fides than Georgia.

I do not care how the program is viewed. Just keep winning championships every now and then. Those programs who’s haven’t won in 20+ years can claim “blue bloods” status and cling to it as they continually fall from relevance.
