Kelly. He is a professional man and not a little bitch.

I want the guy who has the balls to come and compete in the hardest conference in CFB....

Not to sound like sour grapes, because I wanted Riley, any offensive innovator really, but I definitely had some reservations about if it was actually the right time for a hire like that.
It would have been perfect after 2016, but the roster right now is in much worse shape and more of a rebuild, especially in the trenches. I honestly think Kelly is better suited for that than pretty much anyone else we could have hired.
I just don’t see how anyone can’t be extremely excited about this hire and what it means for the future of this program.
And given his age, we will likely be in great shape once he’s built us back up and decides to retire after 6-8 years and then we can bring in that young innovative mind to capitalize on it the same way ND did.
Difference is we’ll probably already have some more hardware in the trophy case to show for it

Which of these "innovators" have won championships?
Kelly will rebuild the trenches. Riley will disappear in the Pac. Layne Kardashian will continue to jump from job to job.

I believe Riley will eventually go Pro, so we got BK now, and then when Riley peters out in the NFL , and BK retires with his 2 or 3 Nattys then we can hire a 54 yr old Riley, this is SW big big plan.

We actually agree Roger.
Like I said this ended up being the perfect hire for what we need.
I never really considered him as a candidate because it just didn’t seem like a realistic pull. Had I thought he was actually in play he would have been the top of my wish list.

Not sure but kelly did beat us every time we played. So Kelly would seem to be a step up.

I didn't think we had a shot, to be honest.

On the surface Riley
But it’s pretty clear he wanted to avoid this league

I didn’t even think we’d take the shot

Just figured Woody was going to focus on more realistic hires. Glad he didn’t.

Mulkey, although a thoroughly dislikable human being, is undeniably one of the top 2 or 3 coaches in the nation, with multiple natties.
Kelly, although a thoroughly dislikable human being, is undeniably one of the top 20 to 25 coaches in the nation, and not only has never won an NC, he has won only one big game, and Trevor Lawrence and 3 defensive starters were missing for that one, and it was in 2OT.

One coach bolted for the west coast because “football too hard in south”.
The other said “damn it’s cold. Let’s go sweat it out in The swamp and win some titles”

I'd have to hear Riley's southern accent to make a true assessment

I'll take Old School over Youngblood, no hesitation.

I'm excited with Kelly. I think the whole football program needs to change the culture of leaving early. The amount of players leaving early causes the program to be up and down.
I think Woodward sees this and brought in the best person to change that and build a program that can stay on top.

Out of those 2? Kelly

Kelly now. I had heard his name early in the search and thought meh. Glad we hired him.
Posted on 12/3/21 at 4:36 pm to St Jean The Baptiste
Kelly because LSU has a culture problem I don’t even think Riley could handle, he might even exacerbate it frankly.

I would have chose Riley before, but after doing research on Kelly, he may be the better of the two.
