My first two calls would be to Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens. Both proven college coaches in the NBA.
Jesus, man.
I'd call Archie Miller and the guy at UT-Chatanooga

If you're going to dream big, why not Popovich and Phil Jackson?
My first two calls - Buzz Williams and Scott Drew.
Neither guy seems likely to leave their current jobs, but the LSU COULD be alluring.
Drew has done an outstanding job at Baylor building that program to a high level after essentially starting over from the death penalty. Most in the Big 12 think his recruiting tactics are "shady", but as far as I know, he hasn't been hit with sanctions. He already recruits Louisiana hard anyway AND he would come with the all important stamp of approval from Dale Brown. LSU would have to pay a ton to get him, but you can't deny that what he has done at Baylor is remarkable. However, there may be a ceiling on what he can do at Baylor.
Williams simply just doesn't make sense at Va. Tech. That program has never been worth a damn and they sit in a brutal basketball conference. Even if Williams does a great job, is he going to be able to consistently compete with UNC, Duke, UVA, Louisville, Notre Dame, year after year? It's still curious as to why he left Marquette for a bottom-feeder program like Va. Tech, but you can't imagine he left thinking Blacksburg was his final destination. Texas guy with big personality. His first HC job was at UNO. I think he could start to recruit LA/TX well almost immediately and the recruiting competition would be weaker (Would you rather compete with UNC, Duke, UVA, Maryland, West Virginia for local recruits or Miss. St., A&M, Ole Miss, Texas, Baylor?)

Yeah let's go after 2 coaches of top 10 NBA teams, both of which are playoff bound, and are chocked full of young players.
Brilliant.

Anthony Guy "Tony" Bennett is the head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team since March 31, 2009. Bennett is regarded as the best defensive coach in the NCAA and his motion offense is praised as one of the most efficient and elite.
His wife is an LSU (as are her parents) grad born and raised in Louisiana.
He makes 2.1 million a year at Virginia. He'd probably come to LSU for a bit more.
Make the call alleva.

Absolutely, you have to make that call. I think UVA would match us so I don't think he'd come, but hell yeah he is definitely a guy you have to make say no, especially given the ties you mention.

This should be used to purge potential candidates from now on.

housing allowance to the wife would be included in the deal

I've said before- I wanted Buzz when we hired Johnny. He would be my #1 call and I would make him think very hard about the job before he said no, if that were the case. More likely, I think he would listen and could be amenable to a move.

For real:
Archie Miller, Matt McCall and then Kermit Davis.

Steve Prohm and Matt McCall. Kermit Davis is a solid 3rd choice though.

If we couldn't pull something like this off in football why on earth do you think we can do it for basketball?
