Kelly made the SECCG with mostly Orgeron's recruits save Daniels and Taylor.

O is a salesman.
he is very, very good at sitting in a living room and convincing a kid(and his family) to come to his school.

he's not nearly as good at identifying the right players to go out and recruit.
once the support structure that was in place at LSU all left, his roster management went to shite.
Just like it did his entire time at Ole Miss.

Yes, this is something in which to be concerned when writing after 10 pm.
Try this one:
If Bert Jones was quarterback in 2024 with Herman Fontenot and Wendell Davis as receivers, with the 1987 offensive line, and the Soul Patrol DBs of 1977, could Brian Kelly have defeated the 2023 Michigan team at a neutral location on a date with an odd number between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve when the temperaturewas below 40 degrees when wearing purple jerseys and white helmets? Tell me! I must know!

part of the reason why we took so many transfers in Kelly first two years was because of O’s terrible recruiting.

You need to clarify which coach O, the one we fired heck no, the one we hired possibly. Coach O appeared to lose his motivation, he had other priorities that ruined his career.

Everyone wants something to be proud of from their corner of the world. For Southwest LA, perhaps numero uno is O. I highly doubt it is the exclusive choice.

How many years does this dead horse have to be beat?

O was an individual contributor, not a manager. He was a good recruiter of a ballplayer or three, but he was a terrible manager of recruiting. He succeeded in 2018 and 2019, because the processes left to him by Les Miles were humming along, and the contributions that Ed Orgeron was able to make - getting Joe Burrow and Joe Brady - were additive. But once the processes started to break down, due to the absence of a real manager, it was like the Titanic after the iceberg.

LOL

I'm not an O supporter at all. However, he had enough talent on that roster still remaining that LSU made the SEC Championship game in Kelly's first year. He hasn't sniffed it since then. Common sense 101

You sure? Bc once Les miles d coordinator left, the defense disappeared!!

Daronte Jones actually did a decent job towards the end of the season. They held #2 Bama and Bryce Young to 20 pts @Bama, lost in OT to a ranked Arkansas 16-13 and held 15th ranked aggie to under 300 yds offense.

There was quite a bit of discussion on here whether he should be retained. Interestingly, the D staff at that time was:
DC - Daronte Jones
LBs - Baker
CBs - Raymond
DL - Andre Carter

Baker would have gone to Mizzou regardless for the promotion, but if the decision was made to release Jones and promote Baker he would have stayed and likely we keep Raymond.

In hindsight that would have been best, but who knew what a disaster House was going to be. Replacing Raymond with a HS coach? Now that one defies logic.

No. He could never duplicate a championship because he has no idea how he won the first one. It was pure dumb luck (and Joe Brady) and that wasn’t happening again. He lost Brady. He lost Ensminger. He lost Aranda. He was screwed and what happened to him post 2019 was the result.

You men like offering Jamaar Chase a scholly as a DB only? So much so he was leaving the State to go play WR? One of O's first recruiting moves was to get Chase to LSU as a WR.

O also got Jrs to skip the draft to comeback for a NC run.

The man def had his flaws. Ideally, he was best served as DL coach, recruiting lead, and motivator in a program that has an organizational leader.

It is also not right to judge him on unfortunate circumstances and use those same excuses today for other coaches.

His biggest downfall was hiring Pelini, that horrible defense set in motion a wave he could recover from. His offense in 2020 was going to struggle and not having a decent defense to keep them in games was too much.

But he fielded one worse. So I guess you didn't pay attention?

He was terrible in all aspects in his last two seasons.

If O stayed, does he even go after Jayen? Probably not, he probably sticks with Max Johnson. Does JD end up at ND with Kelly instead?

Bruh c'mon. Get out of here. First I highly doubt he gets or goes after Jayden in the transfer portal.

Second, after he won the Title he went full douche and quit doing the things that made him have successful seasons in 2018 and 2019.
