So this underwood kid is that good?
NOBODY has any idea how good he will be at LSU.

Underwood better be very comparable to Jayden in that situation.
Does he have wheels like JD5? Or even close?

I don't think the playcalling has been as bad as some of you make out. Name an offense where you agree with everything they call and ill show you a roster ful of top talent.
the play that works is always the right call and the play that doesn’t is never the right call.
regardless of why.

The play-calling has been consistently bad and very predictable.
The only thing predictable about it is that we struggle to run the ball so you can pretty much guess we are throwing it most of the time. Everybody wants to pile on the playcalling but this offense lacks a deep threat and Nuss is downright bad at throwing the deep ball so teams have no fear and can squat on all the short to intermediate stuff.

Over the last 3 games, it's been crystal clear how weak our OL is in the middle. I look for Vandy to pressure us right up the A gap all night.
Our OL doesn't generate a run push and outside of Durham, we offer very little threat to run the ball. And Nuss doesn't run often when no one is open. Defenses had to account for Daniels to run in that situation.
Agree on no consistent over the top threat. IMO, defenses are dictating to our offense what we can do.
Plus, Nuss has regressed over last couple of games. running backwards vs. stepping up in the pocket. he seems to panic and misses open WR/TE. it's not a great situation right now.

You’d be surprised at what having a running quarterback will do for your offense. Especially one who also can throw the ball 100 yards.

He can run, but his high school stats don't suggest he's JD5. Not many are.
JD5
Jr Year: 81 yds/game - 12 carries per game
Sr. Year: 110 yd/game - 12 carries per game
Bryce
Jr Year: 16 yds/game - 1.9 carries per game
Sr. Year: 49 yds/game - 2.9 carries per game

...or at least demote him and bring in a better playcaller?

The short list?
Blocking, running, passing, receiving, eliminate pre-snap penalties. Better play out of the QB, RBs, TEs, WRs, OTs and OGs ought to just about do it.

Sloan is learning how to call plays in the SEC. Having BU will help with that tremendously.
Hopefully we improve

He can run
Let's stop trying to make him Jayden Daniels 2.0. Let's have him be the best Bryce Underwood he can be.

our offense is centered around a quarterback who can run the football. Every play looks like that too. We dont know what to do with a non running qb

It’s very risky with an OL that will most likely have 4 starters missing. Underwood better be very comparable to Jayden in that situation.
I've never read where a recruiting service has compared Underwood to Jayden. I've read several where is his comp is Trevor Lawrence. I think we'd be okay with that.

Then why didn't they tweak it? Why did they bring in a backup for Nuss, AJ Swann, that also can't run? Kalen Doboer had Micheal Penix last year who ran for all of eight yards and this year he has Jalen Milroe. A competent offensive mind doesn't have his scheme limited by one type of QB.

If he can run at all, I mean AT ALL, he will give us a better advantage than what we have now. Nuss can’t run at all

We’re not as talented as we think we are.

Move him and Hankton where they should be. Qb Coach and WR coach. Go get an experience play caller.
This is the answer! Underwood will still have Sloan to develop him and he'll have a better OC to put him in a position to succeed in the game.

Moving them will most likely result in them leaving. Regardless of what’s best for the team.
Posted on 11/19/24 at 1:24 pm to GirthMaxxxer
Stop running the offense that was designed for Jayden Daniels with Nuss. Get under center some and get a downhill running game going with some play action. When Underwood is ready, you can run the current offense.

demote him to QB coach give OC to someone else
