Don’t you think most of this board would be like Tech fans and defending everything?

I just see a time and time again that people have blinders on if it happens to their own team and players, and they will look past almost anything

99.9% of Tech fans are supporting him and saying he did nothing wrong

I know it’s easy for us to say we would not defend him, but I think it would be over 90% support on TD and saying everyone is just jealous of us

Whenever you do something that causes concerns over the integrity of the sport, there is no supporting him.

Honestly no. He bet on the sport hes playjng, and his team. Both for and against them ha. Its pretty clear cut. Id just say qb battle with usc kid and d-2, kid. And that sorsby is an idiot for doing it. Sucks the ncaa has no power anynore, their afraid of litigation and losing anyways. Went from too much power and picking and choosing who they enforce it on, to not having any authority anymore

I definitely wouldn’t be defending him. If he gambled on college football games, he should have his eligibility forfeited.

No I would not be defending Sorsby, quite the opposite.
I would also expect LSU to dismiss him or bench him to protect the integrity of the sport.

TT is going to be hated for generations after this.

No they aren’t. There are people pissed because it’s a black eye on the school. The wealthy donors are just trying to protect their investments and their own self.

It would probably be 50/50 because these are the parameters now in football. NCAA and power brokers would def fast track new legislation to make sure it didn’t happen again if it were LSU.

The question you should be asking is would LSU have the audacity to go that length to get him eligible vs what TT did.

Not me. He should not be allowed to play. Doesn't matter what team he is on.

if this was accurate, it isn't, that percentage will drastically go down in the next few weeks with all the bad press they are getting. when opposing fanbases and AD's are for cancelling games with your team bc of what is a should be inelligble player your defense of the guy will change. I saw their backup play some last year and would definitely be like frick Sorsby if I was a TT fan.

I think we would’ve just went with Longstreet honestly. The Tech situation is a bit different considering their usual backup (Will Hammond) is coming off an ACL injury

I think betting on your own games has always been a hard line. You just can’t do it. I think reaction would be split. A lot of people would be frustrated, but would know he couldn’t play. I’d have been pissed that LSU didn’t do their due diligence on his background.

Then everyone can gamble on the games and at anytime. They can bet at halftime on their own games if they want to. If there are no rules it’s basically pro wrestling.

I haven't been keeping up with the reaction of Tech fans, but this shouldn't be surprising and would likely be the reaction of most fans if their team was in a similar situation.

There are certain lines you don't cross in sports and betting is one of them, more specifically betting on your own team. There's absolutely zero justification for this and it's a terrible thing for sports.

This is not excusable by any stretch.

I remember when most people on here understood the decision to remove Tyrann Mathieu from the team. They didn't like it, but they had a grasp of the concept of accountability. If you think about it now, that offense is significantly less severe than the one Sorsby is being accused of.

If he's willing to bet against his own team... then what's stopping him from shaving points? That's not something I think anyone on this board would excuse.

There's a reason that other programs are reacting how they are. The integrity of the sport has been jeopardized. Anyone defending this on Tech's side is out of line. There is no defense. End of discussion.

I don't care about any of the NCAA's rules.... but they're still the rules. Why bother having any?

It's one thing to play around with eligibility stuff because the NCAA opened that can of worms during COVID. I don't love that Chambliss is somehow still eligible, but it is what it is. This is an entirely different animal though. It's a known rule with no gray area at all.....don't bet. He did and has admitted guilt; he shouldn't be allowed to play.

He was betting against his own team? I haven't seen that. Can you link the article?

100% and just think how deep this can go. Forget his own stats for a minute and just think about all the access to information he would have being in the locker room. A questionable hamstring for a running back that looks like it won't be good for saturday? Bet the under on that guy. WR gets dumped and is taking the break up really hard. Maybe he had a terrible week of practice and wasn't focused, bet the under. It's an awful thing for the sport that this kid gets to play.
