LSU had a far superior offensive team last season than this.

Which of the following makes sense, assuming he wants out?
(a) "I want out", and payout is in jeopardy.
(b) "I want to stay" and payout is secure.

Pretty obvious

Many were very pleased with the improvement over the season, especially the offensive line play.

Thanks, Grimes.

It's Brilliant. He says he wants to stay. LSU writes a 3 million dollar check.

There should be no reason for LSU to eat that and let him walk

O should make it work

Offensive talent was better, not far superior. Fournette was limited most the season, Guice was the bell cow. Etling was the QB. Receivers dipped and OL dipped.

Touting a decline in yards per game from 465 to 412 as working wonders is amazing.

Etling was 4th in the SEC in yards per attempt 5th in QBR and only threw 2 interceptions this year. below average? Pull down the crack pipe.

...and he threw 14 Tds in 12 games. Let that sink in.
Drew Lock
Jake Fromm
Shea Patterson/Jordan Ta'amu
Jalen Hurts
Jarrett Stidham
Nick Fitzgerald
Kyle Shurmur

These guys were clearly better than Etling and there are a few others that are similar to Etling. If he was top half, it's very close. My point was that any suggesting that Etling's development was extraordinary is ridiculous. The passing game was still very limited.

In other words, nobody would look at the passing game this year and point to it as an example of what we need to become a contender.

It's amazing how simple minded people are. It's got to either be black or white. People are really trying to make the case that LSU's offense this year was awesome. A rational view would be that LSU's offense showed signs of improvement and that with more time, Canada would get it rolling. That's reasonable. But, instead, the offense was "amazing" and Canada "worked wonders".

No. It wasn't, and he didn't.

People have painted O as the villain because they feel they are entitled to a better HC than O, yet no one actually knows what's going on.

Well, we do know that Orgeron admitted to meddling in the offense. We know that Orgeron did so despite making promises not to do that. We know Orgeron hand selected Canada. We know that Orgeron has handled Media inquiries with zero tact or finesse, which runs contrary to what you’d expect out of the figurehead of a multimillion dollar program.

Whether you like or hate Orgeron, he’s handled this situation terribly, which is exactly what he did at Ole Miss.

The SEC was also better last year than this year.

I have no problem is he parts ways on his own because the job wasn't what he envisioned. I have a major problem if LSU pays him $3M to leave because Ogreon doesn't know how to get along or manage staff personalities.

LSU is so fricked up we'll probably hire Hue Jackson.

I'd almost prefer Blanket Jackson to Ensminger and a 3 million dollar black eye.

O never yelled at his OC in front of everyone on TV like Saban did to Kiffin. Kiffen knew what he was doing on offense. I don't recall a whole lot of Saban bashing when Kiffin pulled out, even though Kiffin took a couple of shots at Saban after he left.

If O is/was such a dumbass, do you seriously think So Cal would have handed him the keys as Interim HC?

I know they went another route on permanent HC and ate that one. They probably wished they could have had O back at that point.

You're setting yourself up with this weak arse argument. I'll let others argue the obvious though.

They could've had him back at any time, and he would've gone back happily to the job he called the best in the country. They chose not to.

LSU's the only school with an AD stupid enough to

A. Hire him and
B. Give him a ridiculous buyout.
