I just think there are some people that will want SE no matter what. He could be dead last in offense and people would still want him. Hell, he almost is.

The same will be the case when it's "you know who's" time...

nah, this is overblown.

Look, of course I want our guys to get stronger and more explosive. But the VAST majority of that comes from the players' DNA and skill level, not from S&C.

We needed an innovative, modern playcaller at OC when Canada was let go. We hired a guy who hasn’t been an OC in 20 years and repeatedly turned down the job before taking it.

I agree 100% that conditioning seems to be a major problem. I'm not completely on the change S&C Coach train yet, but I have serious questions about things.
With a few exceptions, I see a team which is not conditioned to play great football. I have a couple of areas of concern. The first is the linemen. Both O-Line and D-Line appear to be overweight and slow. To play great football these guys need to get in shape and pick up some quickness. Also, I noticed that our 2 main running backs appear to have also bulked up more this year. I may be wrong, but they both appear to be slower getting to the hole and not having the speed to break away for longer gains.
Both of those issues relate to the S&C coaching and I know that it is long term correction, but I feel steps can be taken quickly to make some improvements

our offense has been putrid, and yes, this year we rank even lower than those putrid years.

I am not arguing that the offense doesn't suck but it has pretty much always sucked. We have relied on defense to win for more than a decade. You do remember what one of our best teams of all time did against bama right? 9 points in 8 qtrs and an overtime

No, it just means that the people who made those predictions were dumb asses.

Ensminger is Orgeron's Carl Smith. No way he replaces him. The only way it happens is if Ensminger takes the initiative and resigns.

I am not against SE, but we definitely should be higher up on the list for offense.

Having said that, the OPPONENTS we have faced influence that a lot, IN STYLE and EXECUTION
and we are 7-2.

How much time do they need? How much time is enough? You do realize that they have been on the LSU coaching staff since 2015 or earlier, yes?

These ARE THEIR GUYS. They had some help in recruiting these guys from having Coach Miles, but O was one of the 'crootin' coordinators, and by most postings I have read here, Coach Ensminger is a good recruiter as well.

So they had a huge hand in recruiting these guys, and now coaching them. How long, again, Mr. "if you don't believe my point you're a dumbass" do we wait for them to get "their guys?" What is "giving them a chance?" They've been in charge for two-and-a-half seasons, now, with THREE cracks at AlaBama

Yeah, LSU is basically trotting out FCS level talent at this point

Maybe not FCS talent but it may be only marginally better than G5 level talent on offense.

Me either, but not for the same reasons as you.

Am I to assume you mean Ensminger wants out of the responsibilities?
That may be true.

O won't make a change unless Ensminger doesn't give him an option. It's the only way Orgeron can save face with botching two hires in as many years.
I continue to believe that Ensminger's hire was based on insecurity and being shortsighted.
However, there needs to be a bigger shakeup among the offensive staff to produce any results.

It's not. At all.

It's time for someone with a fresh approach.

I think most LSU fans will be very happy this coming offseason.

All I can say is remember SE didn't originally want the OC job, but O convinced him to take it for 1 year. Some of the "powers that be" wouldn't allow O/LSU to hire his first or second choice.

You’re silly or haven’t paid attention to the LSU hiring process for the last three years.

But now teams have a ton of tape and know its the same old song and dance. same passing tree(deep on side lines or short side lines..nothing quick over middle),

Are you serious? The buffoonery on here is amazing sometime. Just because things don't work doesn't mean they are not being tried.

What's really happening here is that folks who have been telling us that we only need a new scheme are being proved wrong. We have a huge talent deficiency on our offense. Our starters on offense, on average, are not nearly as highly ranked as on defense - and it shows.

Offense is different - everything the scheme does changes the blocking scheme - how much the TEs do in pass protection, the route tree, the timing, the snap, EVERYTHING changes with a new offensive scheme.

You’re not wrong, but there are a lot of 1st year offensive revamps that are very successful.

The last 2 places Kendall Briles has been had immediate success.

Cumbie and Meachum immediately made TCU better.

Lincoln Riley took Oklahoma over the top.

Mullen is scoring 8 points more a game with no talent at Florida.

Syracuse went from 119 in total offense to 42nd when Dino Babers took over.

Spread offenses are all about scheming up an offense. There is a reason Baylor got significantly better while recruiting about the same. Speed and simple play concepts mask a lot of talent deficiencies

pparently the plan was to bring in Freeze

That was never the plan. O was pushing for E to get the job when Kiffin went to FAU, but Alleva wouldn’t allow it, and O promised a big name. So when Canada came in, O told him he would have full control, but we all know how that went down. O was again pushing for E, in the middle of the season last year.

There is no other idea. Steve Ensminger is Orgeron's guy, period. As long as he is here, Ensminger is who he wants and the results be damned.
