We really need the extra practice time.
I have complained for at least the last 15 years that LSU is not going after good OL prospects!! For years Miles and now Coach O are looking at *****'s for the skill positions and overlooking the linemen. Why do we constantly go after 5 or 6 receivers each class but only 1 or 2 linemen. All good coaches know that you have to start in the trenches. But what further worries me more is the type of OL recruits we get!! For the most part they are mainly Guards. We need to see centers & tackles in our classes and we need to see linemen who are in playing condition. I'm sorry but a 6'2" 350 lb. linemen who takes 3 seconds to even get off the line is not going to cut it.
I get so mad when I see see these fat and slow linemen that LSU gets and I look around at other teams and I see big and tall linemen who get off the line, can pass block and then even get downfield to block. What is the problem? Can the coaches not evaluate OL talent?
Lastly, I also cannot stand to see all of the out of shape players that LSU is putting on the field. This is not a COVID problem, it is a problem which has been going on for years! We need to start laying the blame for these problems clearly where they belong ON THE COACHING STAFF!

I'm not a new critic of CPM. I have been disgusted with him since 2012. That year,me and friend got to catch an LSU vs. Kentucky baseball game in Lexington that spring and we were both shocked at what we saw. To make the point a little clearer, my friend actually was a prior walk on member of an LSU baseball team long before CPM, so he was not some regular fan. Guys, it looked like a little league team out there. With the exception of a second baseman and some pitchers who went pro, that team struggled to hit the ball. Kentucky had numerous big guys who could hit and score runs. LSU got smoked!! Fast forward 8 years and it is still nearly the same problem. I have been off the Paul band wagon since that week end in Lexington !!!!! I cannot wait to see a REAL baseball coach back in Red Stick !
Been following LSU since the early 60's. I have seen some really great ones, BUT, I cannot say that I have seen 1 guy completely turn a team around like Joe has. It is truly something to see. I hope he continues at this pace and sets the Gold Standard for LSU players going forward!!! Geaux Tigers!
Folks, come back down to earth. There were huge holes, long runs, wide open 60+ yard pass plays all over the field. Najee Harris ripped us all night. If our offense had not been so great, this would have been a huge defeat. Wake up????? Look at the games this year and tell me how many times has our defense let the other team back into games? This should scare any sane football fan.
418 yards passing should worry the HELL out of everyone!!!!!
Maybe so, BUT those longs plays were horrible and almost cost us the damn game!!!!!!!!
I'm 65 years old born in Louisiana and I have been a huge LSU fan my whole life. It is tough being in Alabama the last few years. I'm not some Johnny come lately fan and all I have to say is that some of you guys need to take off your purple and gold blinders and see that we have a very serious problem with the defensive coaching. Some of you Aranda sunshine pumpers were the ones raising hell about Chavis and the Miles Offense. Now,I see this defense turning in the same direction! P.S. I wonder if Papa Burrow might come out of retirement. If he is as tough as Joe, it might be fun!!
The running with authority really ticks me off. This 3-4 front has been soft against the run and cannot get a pass rush. This has been a recurring problem since Aranda got here and it has not improved. Dammit Man, do something to correct it. Would love to see some 4-2-5 or something to take back the line of scrimmage. The front 3 has been giving a lot of effort, but it sometimes look like they are getting out-numbered and not getting help.
On 1 play late in the game, I think he grabbed his jersey 4 times as he was trying to prevent him from making another big play. I was really getting worried that the Bama Refs were about to take the game away. I think Joe did the keeper right after that and iced the game!

Defense Problems need to be addressed

Ok, I know that a bunch of Aranda fans are going to jump my case, But, I'm very disappointed in the play of the defense over the last couple of years. We are seeing third and longs converted by everyone. They are missing coverage assignments, they are leaving their lanes, missing tackles, loosing focus and allowing huge plays.
Now some are going to say that it was against Alabama, but let's look back for the last 2 years and we keep seeing the same problems against EVERY team!
I was thrilled to death when Coach O went out an addressed our problem on offense, but now something has to be done on defense. We need changes now if we are going to win a championship and we will really need a good defense next year when Joe Burrow is not around to carry the team.
You are 100% correct!!! As soon as the 2011 game was over this talk started. As soon as this game was over the same crap started. If the shoe was on the other foot, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL!!! that the Alabama fans would be saying that LSU deserved a rematch!!! LSU fans, do not fall for this trap!!! HELL NO TO A REMATCH!!!!!!
My favorite was Alabama @ Legion Field in 1982. What made it great was the way LSU dominated the first half. It was wonderful to hear the loud mouthed Bama fans so quiet. At the half, you could have heard a pin drop!! Their silence was PRICELESS!!!

re: Matt Stinchcomb talks LSU/A&M

While watching the game Saturday night, I do not know who made me madder Matt Stinchcomb or the sorry officals!!!!!
First off, I'm a life long LSU fan. I was @ Ole Miss when LSU took a knee 4 times at the 1 yard line with 5 minutes to go and I 100% felt it was the right thing to do.
Now to this issue. I admire Nick for his hard work and dedication. My problem is with the staff. To me, the smart play here was to run the ball and try put the game away. With 1 minute to go being up 14 seems to me as a safe bet at putting the game away. If you are scared that your defense can give up 14 points in 1 minute against Arkansas, then you do not need to be coaching @ LSU!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry guys but that one will just not fly. If you want to use that messed up logic then he could have fumbled one of the snaps. Then they could have scored quickly and gone for 2 points and we lose by 1!!!! Well I guess I know you thinking, but I would much rather take my chances being up 14 with 1 minute to go and a pretty good defense.
Heck, if you give up 2 touchdowns like that you deserve to lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree 100% that conditioning seems to be a major problem. I'm not completely on the change S&C Coach train yet, but I have serious questions about things.
With a few exceptions, I see a team which is not conditioned to play great football. I have a couple of areas of concern. The first is the linemen. Both O-Line and D-Line appear to be overweight and slow. To play great football these guys need to get in shape and pick up some quickness. Also, I noticed that our 2 main running backs appear to have also bulked up more this year. I may be wrong, but they both appear to be slower getting to the hole and not having the speed to break away for longer gains.
Both of those issues relate to the S&C coaching and I know that it is long term correction, but I feel steps can be taken quickly to make some improvements
I agree 100% The O-Line has got to be the biggest problem area on this team. We have ZERO tackles in the starting line up. LSU is playing with 5 overweight guards and are getting whipped at the point of attack. If we are going to get better, a true left tackle needs to be on the field. I know the Juco guy was brought in and it looks like he is struggling and we hear that Rosenthal will be good but he is not ready. Maybe now that we have 4 games left, he can get on the field some and still maintain his redshirt. Who knows, with the way the line is playing now, he might be an upgrade. At least, he cannot be any worse! Sack, Sack, Sack,Sack!!!!!!

re: Lawrence is returning

I thought both Lawrence & Fehoko played good at times. However, for these guys to get to the next level, they really need to get in real playing shape, work on speed and agility and improve their pass rushing skills.

I fully agree with the feeling that the O-Line is the biggest problem on offense. However I have serious questions regarding whether it will get better. My concern is the lack of athleticism on the both the O-line & the D-line. When I compare LSU's line to the other top programs, I see a group of players who are overweight, slow and not agile. This is a conditioning problem and it needs urgent attention.
LSU has had trouble for several years on both sides of the ball with teams who have been smaller and quicker. To me there are very few tackles over 300 ibs. who can handle these speed rush guys off the corner. LSU must work on conditioning the guys already here and start recruiting better tackles. We have a house full of guards and no real centers or tackles.
