Thanks for helping me understand the Finely situation. Now I know how to feel about it.

I really don't care where he went, but make no mistake he went to Auburn to try and get back at LSU and he probably has a better chance of getting on the field there to do it...not because of "fit" you don't leave your childhood dream and go to a hated rival without having a personal agenda.

quote:I don't think Finley, or most other college players, have a "brand" at this point.
Anyone his age who is even halfway awake understands that you are tending to the building of your brand at all times.
A precious few might, but 3rd string QBs don't.

One drawback of playing in the most prestigious conference in the country is that when kids transfer out they may want to stay in the most prestigious conference in the country.

He just put himself in the back of the line again.
He's not starting at AU this year.

Say what you will about TJ but in 2 years what has Nix shown?

Nothing wrong with that at all - I'd rather play 4 years at a smaller school than ride the bench at a major school. But of course it's the player's choice.

Let him go!!! He had a chance to be the man but blew it! Go Les & Max!!!

Maybe I missed it but does someone have a link of shade that he has thrown at LSU. Everything I have seen him say has been pretty normal and he seems like a good dude. Yesterday I saw a clip of him talking to Jacques Doucet about when O was in his face during the A&M game. He said he had no problem with it. Hell half of this board was freaking out because O was being too hard on him.
As for him going to Auburn, yeah I hope we beat the shite out of him when we play them. But some people want to play SEC football. He knew that wasn’t going to happen at LSU so I get the move.

Yeah, if he had done it without the pot shots, I would be ok with it. Maybe he didn't like the idea of being the 4th string quarterback when fall rolls around. Can understand why he left, but he could have done it in a classier way without all the mouth.

I didn’t say he wasn’t being honest, just saying it wasn’t his main reason for going there. The other factors are way more important.

I think it’s pretty simple as he didn’t see playing time here. Whether it’s Brennan next year or Johnson after him, he’s competing against a guy in the same class. Or clearly already beaten out.
I was hoping he’d get out of the SEC. or at least the West. I think he’s gonna light it up over there.
LSU fans never wanted him to start anyway despite having the best arm on the team.

The best arm? or the strongest arm. Nevertheless we'll see him 10/2 and he'll be Tiger Bait.

quote:what's your definition of "best arm"? Is it merely strength? If so, I'd argue that's not even close to the most important factor for determining the "best arm."

Hell, if mere arm strength was all it took, every flame throwing baseball pitcher would be an elite QB.
There's SO MUCH MORE to being an effective QB than just a rocket arm.

quote:Light it up like he did in the 48-11 beat down against his new team in 2020? (Just go watch a replay of that game)
I think he’s gonna light it up over there.

That's what he is, strong arm and all. (He be having dat strong arm; but got nothing else you want, that's why LSU fans not be wantin him to start, you know)
A strong arm without touch and accuracy is worthless. (Which seems to be an utter football mystery to all the TJF Fan Club Members on here)
Maybe Harsin and the AU QB Coach can bring out the other much more important qualities that both a championship caliber and non-championship winning SEC QB has to have. Maybe he'll succeed and maybe he won't...........

If you look at LSU’s game log, he had 2 starts with the highest Comp% out of any game.
Taking away the S. Carolina Game when he threw only 21 passes but completed 80% of them.
He completed 64% of his passes against Arkansas while throwing 42 passes.
And you can say, well Arkansas’s defense was terrible.
So was Vandy’s and Ole Miss’s and Max and Myles didn’t completed 64% of their passes against them.
So it’s not like he’s never shown accuracy.
He’s just the least mobile of the group and probably a little behind the 5thbyear senior and the son of the NFL player mentally.
When given time he can throw an accurate pass as well as the other 2.
None of them are Joe Burrow at the point.

Myles never even got to play against them lmao.

Hes fantastic at those 3-5 yard passes the staff limited him to vs SC.
When they opened it up, he failed.
Playing behind cox isn't going to help him a bit.

He got to play fricking Vanderbilt and only completed 62% of his passes.
Johnson played Ole Miss and didn’t complete 60% of his passes. Ole Miss had one of the worst passing defenses in the country.
On average opposing teams completed 68% of their passes against them. We completed 52.9% we actually brought down that average by 2%.
People shite on Finley for being in accurate but it’s not like anyone else on the team was super accurate all season. Finley was just super inconsistent.
