I posted this on the opening page already, but I found this very interesting:
Brown's coach Todd Monken: "Man, isn’t this s–t crazy?" ... "I don’t even know what to say. As far as I know, he’s had a medical issue that wasn’t allowing him to practice. That’s a medical issue. It has nothing to do with me. He was cleared, so we dressed him just in case we had to have him." ... "I don’t know what to say. I wondered why Lane Kiffin reached out to me a week ago, now I know. I didn’t call him back. I guess I should have."

Adapt or die.
Simple as that.
Ask Dabo.

Quote or link the rule that allows this?
It’s always funny when people slam the ncaa over shite like this. The ncaa has rules and enforces those rules.
Problem is, the schools, who voluntarily join the ncaa, don’t agree with the rules and run to the courthouse.
Don’t like the ncaa rules? Join naia. This is chickenshit from lsu and the schools have ruined college sports, no one else

But today is a terrible day for collegiate athletics.
This is just a continuation of what has been unfolding for many years. Your outrage is misplaced and the fault lies with Emmert, college hierarchy and their indefensible “amateur” student athlete. They chose to die on that hill instead reform their petty rules or address NIL long ago. They invited the chaos and intervention by the courts.
The killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

The NCAA intentionally ignoring that NIL/portal/eligibility changes were inevitable and fighting against players in court, had absolutely nothing to do with anything happening now, while raking in billions of dollars. Yep, the NCAA is clean as a whistle.
Then, of course, changing eligibility for 5/5 after initial portal window was closed was great foresight by the NCAA. They aren’t culpable at all.

A young man signed a pro contract, went through OTAs and, while he didn’t play, dressed for a professional pre-season game.
A lawyer would suggest that had he known he would have had an extra year of eligiblility, he wouldn't have entered the draft or signed a contract. Seems reasonable and hard to prove otherwise. The evidence actually points to this waived UDFA as obviously needing more college development.

The NCAA is the school presidents, ADs, admins, conference commissioners, etc.
Y’all act like the NCAA is some all powerful entity. No, its power is given by the schools.
The SCHOOLS didn’t want all that shite over the years. The SCHOOLS, specifically the presidents and commissioners, don’t want to classify players as employees, don’t want to pay them, don’t want to give up a penny of their money.

quote:Exactly. It’s quite interesting that EA Sports saw the inevitability of NIL and canceled production of NCAA Football over 10+ years ago, until the release last season, while the NCAA itself had to be destroyed in court. But the NCAA did all they could.

quote:That’s akin to saying the people are the government since they vote, therefore the government is absolved of any responsibility because the people voted for them. Therefore the NCAA can’t be accountable for anything, ever.

With this addition LSU will certainly route many teams.

No, it’s not akin to that.
It’s akin to pro leagues where the commissioners work for the franchise owners. The commissioners take all the bullets but the owners are the decision makers.
