I will ALWAYS root for LSU. But today is a terrible day for collegiate athletics.

I’ll still be in Tiger Stadium, I’ll still celebrate when this kid scores a TD or makes a big play. I’ll still enjoy every second of his time on the field. But this is a major blow to college athletics. A young man signed a pro contract, went through OTAs and, while he didn’t play, dressed for a professional pre-season game.

This is no longer amateur athletics. There is no more pride for the school you choose (ala JD1+4). It’s nothing but dollars and how much the schools can pay these kids. Nothing more.

We all know that Kiffin is the coach that will exploit until he can’t exploit no more

If it benefits us now, then why not?

Well the GPS will take you somewhere else otherwise. Seems kinda counterproductive not to.

This isn't really just a result of the "5 for 5" ruling. I will always love LSU and CFB but it has been watered down for me with portal and NIL. It was more fun following HS recruiting and roster continuity from year to year. Now, every roster completely turns over every year.

The "5 for 5" prospect actually doesn't bother me that much. I mean, Chambliss basically has the same arrangement, he just never entered the draft.

That’s not the issue it’s the way home during contraflow that’s the problem.

ETA Matt Mauck and Josh Booty were already pro athletes before playing QB for us. Booty even had a few RBIs in the MLB.

It hasn't been since NIL became legal... Why are we pretending it still was?

I wonder if the players will even attend school in the future. Just a minor league team that uses the school’s stadium and facilities.

Agreed, but this is how it is.....and the NCAA had no defense to stop it...

NIL = pay to play
Transfer Portal = free agency

Get used to it!

I agree 100%….they are not amateurs because they are being paid millions of dollars. I don’t like the state of college sports one bit and this year will be my test year to see if I stay interested.

If I am going to follow a professional football team, it likely won’t be a minor league team.
