Shitpost is shite.

Calling Baton Rouge and it’s not close.

Garth can be pretty cheezy but at least he hasn't OD'd yet.

They are both good songs. Calling Baton Rouge is a great song, so it is better.

Wont back down, and not even close unless you just ask BR folks!

I agree. Curious what everyone else thinks. Personally I think CBR is pretty cool and the people that hate it with a passion are weird.
I'm at every LSU Home game and love our "Calling Baton Rouge" tradition.
I was in the Swamp last Saturday night and loved their "Wont Back Down" tradition and tribute to Petty's family.

I absolutely HATE Calling Baton Rouge
Anywhere, anytime
Anywhere, anytime

CBR has always been a bit cringy. Garth has no connection w LSU or LA just name drops BR in a song with questionable theme.
WBD is fitting for 4th Qtr of a game. Like holding up 4 fingers to show intent persevere through all 60 mins. Nice little tradition for UF to recognize their former manual laborer turned music star. Not like they erected a statue to him for giving a pep talk.
Can we really be all that critical when we play Bitch I'm From Louisiana? With all of our state's musical heritage highlight Garth Brooks and Louisiana Ca$h?!

But even if u concede that both songs suck, at least callin baton rouge makes some kinda sense to play in baton rouge
Also we’re not making a sacrament out of it, it’s just a song that plays. Not comparable to UF cringetown.

Just my opinion:
Tom Petty songs are fine. I never owned any of his music but they are okay to listen to. I really like Garth Brooks and probably own or have purchased everything that isn't a Christmas album. I much prefer country music to Petty.
Won't Back Down seems too laid back to get anyone fired up. I agree that it feels like Florida is trying to force a connection that never fluidly progressed while Petty was still alive. But sure, if that floats their boat more power to them.
Brooks released CBR in 1993 but it was originally done by the Oak Ridge Boys in 1978. 20% of Tiger Stadium has no idea why he needs "a cup of coffee and a couple dollars change" because these days you can talk on your cell for 12 hours if the battery doesn't die. And the part about "combination of a woman and a child"...honestly, Baton Rouge has been a college town for a long time. Look at the female students - young, still childish but growing into women. I never took it as an underage relationship.
So what is the better song? I like CBR as a song and at the stadium. If I never heard Won't Back Down again, my life would still go on. And both are better that STTDB and "I'm from Louisiana" but that's just my opinion.

They are both equally cheesy.....and for some reason the fans eat it up.
The only pop song that is not all that cheesy is VA Tech and Enter Sandman

i'm not even a garth fan. i hate country music.

I like both but it was silly the way the network was pushing the connection last game…

This is dumb. Calling Baton Rouge gets played a couple times. And it’s been around for a long time. Tom petty gets played every chance they get and has been around a couple years

Both songs are pretty cool when the stands are full and everyone is singing.
The videos from the Swamp singing it last week was pretty cool
