And we were still absolutely drumming opponents.

The 2011 offense with awful QB play hung 40 on #3 Oregon, 47 on #16 WV, 41 on #16 Florida, 45 on #20 Auburn, 41 on #3 Arkansas, and 42 on #16 Georgia.

I don't understand why people can't be upset with what Kelly is doing without bringing up those two.

I loved Miles until 2014. After that it was clear the game had passed him up and it was time for LSU to make a change. IT IS OK TO ADMIT THIS.

I hated Orgeron, but I fully appreciate what he brought in 2019. He was one year away from absolutely sinking the program. It was time for LSU to move on. IT IS OK TO ADMIT THIS.

I liked the Kelly hire because he is a stabilizer and obviously REALLY wants a title to cement his legacy. It's becoming clear that he may never get one and LSU will probably need to move on in a few years, but he's going to leave a stacked roster for the next coach. IT IS OK TO ADMIT THIS.

Well said. Being a pumper I held out hope for Miles until the end, but was not heartbroken he was let go, just disappointed in the way it happened and the hire. I also fully appreciate 2019.

I'll probably hold out hope for BK longer than I should, as well.

If Les would have had the benefit of the portal, things would have been way different at qb. Les had the worst luck recruiting qb's.

2014 was when you started to dislike and not enjoy Miles? How about immediately after the 2012 championship game? Lol. I wasn’t a big fan of his virtually the whole time he was at LSU but I was totally done with him after that game.

2012 was a very good season and they were still a top 10 team in the country.

I don't see any world where Les handles the current CF environment better than he did the prior.

I'm not even saying this knocking overall how he handled the prior.

I think YOU forget as well. Don't just mention Miles in his later years here, you gotta count the early years too.

LSU was dominant and competitive a lot of those Miles years. We recruited top 5/top 10 talent all the time. You shytting on a coach that won a NC and played in another and comparing him to a coach that has NEVER won a NC and has yet to even get LSU into a playoff game. Hell, Miles had LSU respected enough that we made the title game in the BCS era with 2 losses.

Orgeron fielded the GREATEST COLLEGIATE TEAM EVER!
Nuff said!!!!

Les Miles AND Ed Orgeron would've gotten us to the playoffs with JD5!

I seriously think you have forgotten Miles first half of his coaching tenure here.

This is literally untrue, so I think you literally have no idea what literally means.

Say what you will about BK. He gave us a pretty disciplined team and we do have a consistently high floor.

This is what I’ve been saying. BK was a good hire. I wouldn’t have anyone else especially given what was available.

Woodward said frick a high ceiling, we want a high floor. BK has a reputation for blowing it in big games. It’s earned. But Woodward was not willing to take the chance on a Napier or even DeBoer type who is more proven than Napier but not as proven as BK. BK has been fielding 10 win/11 win teams for decades and LSU was in a disastrous spot.

The chances of any coach winning a national championship, no matter how good they are and how good their teams are, are so astronomically low. All he wanted to do was make sure this program didn’t go back to the 90s and I truly believe BK won’t let that happen.

While true...there is something sexy about being able to run the ball whenever you want.

I really miss seeing the OL start getting the better of the DL to the point where a halfback with a full head of steam isn't getting touched until 2-3 yards downfield. It's like watching a dam break. You know it's coming.

I'm not saying I'd go back. But, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it.

wrong.....kelly cannot successfully produce a team that can effectively execute a rushing play, period......and it has been this way since he got here.

There is a very real possibility that he has to hire two new coordinators after this season.

It’s proven to be a crapshoot at best with him.

There are 3 distinct types of LSU football fans, some have subgroups:
1. Knowledgeable football fans who understand situations and reality.
2. People who succumb to moment by moment negative results and overreact over any injury/call/philosophy
3. People with zero understanding of any football related reality.
3a. Orgeron fans

Kelly is losing all three.
His bullshite coach speak/lying is losing group one.
LSU has written the book on nli and how to hire positions relative to that so much that other teams are using the position names when LSU was the first.
I believe it’s mostly Woody who had the plan but Kelly was here when it happened and deserves credit also.
If anyone argues against that they are in group 2 or 3.
We are learning in real time of deficiencies in coach hires and game planning on Kelly’s part. This is troubling.
But I have a mostly positive outlook on the future because the groundwork was so elite.
Are there serious problems right now? Yes.
In LSU athletic department history though..
We could be Oklahoma State right now.
