almost every time I see a dumb negative post it comes from someone registered fairly recent on the rant and who lists their favorite school as NOT LSU.(other)
and usually in Houston New Orleans or Chicago

If LSU doesn't win this game, this conversation should be moved to the coaches changes board because Ed O got fired.

He shouldn't get an extension if we beat UCF.
That's not a huge criticism. He's on pace to earn a 2nd contract, but he hasn't done enough yet. If you haven't earned a 2nd contract, it's ridiculous to suggest extending the existing contract.

Unless it's the playoff,
if you are going to fire your coach for losing a bowl game, then you were probably going to fire him anyway.

I thought everybody on here said bowl games were meaningless and the top players didn't need to play?? Now O's extension is dependent on it?!?!?
Posted on 12/4/18 at 1:58 pm to schwartzy
I agree, I actually don't think he should get one regardless and it's not for any reason other than it being the right financial decision to make.

So, any opposing coach worth half a shite could still use the same negative recruiting tactics against LSU by showing his buyout didn't increase and we can still cut ties just as easily.
But with a win in our bowl game, we'll finish in the top 10, so they can say that, but it won't mean much of anything.

We can’t be happy with a UCF loss. Had they had Milton it would be understandable but losing with their backup is too much to handle. We can’t be happy with the same if not worse results we had with Les Miles. It maybe would be different had we not had the 80th ranked total offense but it is what it is.

I don’t think he should get one at all!

Too early for an extension.
He’s not going anywhere.

I don't think he deserves one if we win. Discuss after next year.

frick! I don't think he deserves one if LSU beats UCF.
Leave it alone until after the 2019 season. If, and that's a big if, he's able to win double digit regular season games and get the team into the playoffs or at the least, to the SEC Championship Game, then Alleva and o can discuss an extension.
We aren't doing any damn better now, then we were three years ago. Make the sorry SOB earn something instead of giving him a free pass.
Back to back 9-3 regular season records gets ya an extension. Give me a fricking break.
That's how I feel about it anyway.

While I don't like this thought because it will be used heavily by other coaches recruiting against us with Saban and Fisher being the two biggest offenders of that, it is probably the right thing to do.
Orgeron losing to ND in last years bowl game was bad considering we out played ND basically the entire game so that is on coaching not the players! If this happens again when our roster is much more talented then UCF's and that isn't debatable!
Losing to UCF would be a huge black eye to the program no matter how many games they have won prior to playing us. That is an inferior program with inferior talent, we should not lose to them. And if we do our coaches should not be rewarded for their season when the punctuation of the season ends in failure!!

And that sentiment should be relayed to the coaching staff from the Athletic Department to light a fire under Orgeron and the rest of the staff. Will that happen, probably not but it should!

Even if we win the bowl game, is an extension really necessary? 10-3 is a good season, but not really making anyone come after our coach, is it? this is how we got in a bind with Les Miles. Giving raises, extensions, buyouts for no reason.
Its BS from agents that says coaches need a 5 year contract to recruit. Nobody cares about that. Recruits know if a team is winning the coach stays, if losing he goes.

It seems clear now that Alleva wanted Les gone for personal reasons. It had nothing to do with wanting LSU to produce championship teams again.
All of this right here. Without a fricking doubt.

Let’s just wait until O’s agent comes to Alleva and says “you know Joe, there’s about 5-8 schools right now DYING to hire Ed. I just can’t tell you who they are and have nothing in writing at this time”. That’s when Alleva will IMMEDIATELY sign O to a 6 year, $21 million contract with a $50 million buyout.

Give the guy a chance! We play in the toughest conference and the toughest division in the country and you're complaining about 9-3. We lost to Alabama because they are simply better than us right now. Florida on the road is a tough place to play and we got screwed at A&M! We had a new QB, new rbs, new receivers and tons of injuries on the offensive line. I personally think O did an outstanding job and deserves a raise!

I think Coach O did a good job. The Ga win was an outstanding job. The Fla and A&M games were disappointing and the Bama game in TS was simply terrible.
