That isn't some crazy take. The majority of people have LSU finishing between 5th-7th in the SEC.

People have their P&G glasses on close to the opening game man, hard for them to hear alternative reasoning
5th-7th is pretty much the general consensus from talking heads.

Texas, UGA, Bama, Ole Miss, and someone like Mizzou or Tennessee or Oklahoma being better is a reasonable take.

Yeah, remember last year when Hunt warned us about the defense before the season. Then predicted us to lose to FSU.

What an idiot

We fall behind by 2 scores against USC in the 1st half and 95% of this board will agree with everything he just said.

He’s right. With the lack of elite players on defense, LSU won’t likely make the playoff

We call that CBK-ing

Bad defense, bad special teams, entitled coach who has already landed his big pay day.... Unproven qb and WRs. Yeah. I think Hunt ain't to far off.

Was this in his opinion, or is he saying that "if we finish 6th" as the AP poll currently has us at, then we will not make the playoff? Ahead of us in the polls are:

1. Georgia
4.Texas
5. Alabama
6. Ole Miss
11. Missouri

A lot of Baton Rouge media is still shellshocked from last year's team. Especially Hunt, who if you listen to him long enough, he's known to be pretty negative towards us. But I dont know how you have a 12-team playoff and we're ranked pre-season #13 and that equates to 'probably not making it'.

Not a crazy take, I would put LSU at either 5 or 6 right now. Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, Bama I would put above us and Mizzou is returning their starting QB and Burden plus they have probably the easiest SEC Schedule.

And are A+M and OU actually going to be tough? Aggy has a new coach.

A&M still has talent and will be tough defensively at least. I think OU could have a rough season.

Everyone needs to relax and be a little optimistic. This is the one point in the year where optimism and expectations can be acceptably inflated.

If Les Miles and Fournette could run the ball into oblivion and give us 8-9 wins then this offensive coaching staff and personnel can give us 10.

The OL and RB room alone could propel us to 8 wins. Nuss and WR group can put us in position to grab another two. If the defense can improve run stop, pass rush, or pass defense then we will get another win or they will bail us out of a poor offensive performance.

It’s more reasonable to expect 10 wins than 8 wins for the regular season. LSU just has too much positive potential on offense and room for improvement on defense. Have to expect the better not the same or worse.

He might end up being right. But other than 1-2 obvious teams, I don't know how you can separate the next half dozen teams.

Very thin margins and the picture can look totally different 2 weeks from now.

I agree here, but you are skipping a record of 9-3 which is basically what Hunt is predicting. I personally think LSU either goes 10-2 or 9-3 and there’s not really a way for me to give a well defined reason for choosing one or the other without seeing LSU or any of our opponents play.

Disagree

Think we are no worse than 4th.

Georgia
Ole Miss
Texas

Those are the only 3 I would say are clearly better today. And I’m not convinced Texas and Ole Miss will have the season people think they will.

One could argue that Bama is better and maybe they should be. But until the e new coach proves it, I’m expecting them to crash back to reality.

A few upsets and anything can happen. We are in the group for 8-12 probably out of 20 teams give or take.
