re: How much does a win against Miami change attitudes here?

Just like this season I take every game, hire, move, presser, and signing period as a 'milestone' that tips the scales.
Right now a win against Miami has Orgeron firmly in the 'bought time' balance position. With the caveat that the hires on the offensive side of the ball have to show up. A win, no matter the differential, with an impressive offense is pretty much required.
Because in this scale balance, 3 hires have to work out- Ensminger, Sullivan, and Cregg. Sullivan and Cregg are the position coaches for the two squads that need the most work to go with CSE in his new OC position.
At the beginning of last year both the OL and WRs started the season unprepared. Mistake filled and poor attention to detail. The OL had somewhat of an excuse, but it is what it is. That's why there's spring and summer camps.
If the players for those two groups don't come out and perform AND look prepared in the grand scheme AND Ensminger doesn't have a productive scheme then it's a double-whammy: Bad hires and bad game.
It won't go down this way, but that double whammy would tip the scales too far by a hair in my book. I think Orgeron has this full season no matter what (unless Alleva is fired AND we have an implosion, would take both).

Meh. I’m not miserable, nor am I a prick. Stack your chips on Alleva and O if you want.

Don’t care about that game. Wins over State, Ole Miss, UF, UGA, Bama, Aggy, & Arky will impress me. Nothing less

Yeah previous staff was money in openers, if the goalposts haven't moved again.
It looks like they have. We are talking about being optimistic after a theoretical win against Cryami. Oh how people forget that LSU is about competing for Championships, not a flipping participation trophy.

If we beat the crap out of them we might get momentum and have a good year.

Miami is weird. They looked good then they didn't.
Any ways, I am sure it would calm things down.

any win is a good win.
a win vs a ranked team is a great win.
I hope LSU beats them. South Florida recruiting. Richt.

We have 6 games that we should win and 6 games that could go either way...A Miami loss would definitely escalate the hatred lots have for Ed, and a win would only put them on hold.

It would change attitudes for 2 weeks.

It should but I have a feeling it won't. Many people want O's head no matter what!
I think if O went undefeated their would still be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Beating a team that’s lost 3 in a row isn’t that big of a deal

Aww, poor O. All he’s done is win, but horrible people just want to get rid of him.

no way jose. I was serious when I said I want O gone and no longer support the man.
I just don't see any reason to give up hope on a game we could possibly win thats still 8 months away.

It's still a top 25 team on a neutral field. The game is more pivotal than you think. And it will tell us a lot about what type off off-season prep we had. One way or another

Hey Jack Daniel, you need some cheese with that whine ?

I don’t think a win in that single game will make much of a difference.
In the flip side, a loss would be disasterous for him. His seat will be scorching hot.

but does an impressive showing and a win against Miami calm people down some?
Immediately? No. And only misguided fans would think it does. We won't know what the value of a win over Miami is for at least 4-5 games.
Beating Miami who then goes on to win 4 or 5 games straight...that's a good win. Beat Miami who continues to lose the next 4 or 5 games....not so good.
Trying to find these "glimmers" of hope is just an shorthand version of "we have to see how this plays out."
O needs to show he can consistently beat quality teams, and won't know that in Week 1, win or lose.
